Rivera: CAP to start replacing CMC on passing downs

I mean I don't think he's "breaking down."

I just think he's a terrible pass protector.

I'm not sure what the remedy is but surely they aren't intending to telegraph when the RB is staying in to block and when he's out running a pass this easily

Is Mike Shula still our OC?

Then yes, we probably are.

It's been Shula's M.O. forever to keep in eligible receivers as blockers to counter pressure and to continue with his same slow developing downfield routes. Wade Phillips exposed the hell out of this approach in SB50 and yet here we are, nothing has changed. Evolution my ass.

When you bring in CAP on an obvious passing down you're basically telling the D that they can disregard the RB as a potential receiver.

lol OMG I'm looking for a word to describe the comments, more than just this one, that won't get me banned. I can't.

All Rivera's statement tells me is that CAP will be active for the game. He's baiting, you dummies. And it worked for you Huddle "coaches", hook, line, & sinker. lol 'Oh, CMC is so small he can't keep up. I told you so.'

Do you seriously think TB's D coordinator is thinking, "Wow! We better play pass when #34 is in or we're screwed." He may be in on passing downs. Even with CMC or Stewart or Fozzy in there too. Then, somewhere in the late 2nd or 3rd qtr, CAP runs UP THE MIDDLE for a huge gain or even TD because TB's D has been set up. Now TB's D is confused. Wait, wasn't he only going to play for passing downs? God, I hope they're that stupid. Seriously, I do.

You're giving this staff way too much credit.

Sometimes it really is what it looks like. These guys are clueless on the offensive side of the ball.

RiverRAFT has lost his mind.

So your going to take your best pass catcher off the field during passing downs instead of inserting him into the slot where he doesn't have to block anyone (unless its a run). The Panthers wr's are already slow (Benjamin/funchess 4.7 forty) Not to mention a slow TE, RB in Stewart. So your taking speed off the field as well. I bet you a dollar to a dime that Samuel won't be in on 3rd down as well. This Makes perfect sense (If your a dumb-ass) So defenses know that when Cap comes in on 3rd down, its more than likely a pass and he's in there to simply pass block.

How DUMB is this coaching staff?

The Panthers 3rd down passing offense should be

WR1Sheppard (Due to 4.4 speed, running the entire route tree)

WR2 Samuel (Due to 4.3 speed, running corners, fades, post, screens and comebacks)

TE  Benjamin (Due to mismatches with LB's and S's, running the entire route tree)

Slot   McCaffrey (Due to his ability to run good routes underneath, running the entire route tree)

HB  Ahmar (Due to his ability to block and catch out of the backfield. Either blocking, taking an hand-off or as a safe outlet pass)

Ah. No I'm not. They do it every game. In the past, though, it was with Olsen. Rivera's just announcing it in case TB's D doesn't get the message lol. And Rivera knows Mike Smith quite well.
