The Forgotten Portion of The KB Trade

Ha a 3rd round pick!

You’re also forgetting the fact we’re 5-3 and could’ve possibly had a shot at the playoffs. This may have a very negative impact in the locker room as KB was a locker room favorite, no 3rd round Hurney pick is worth pissing off a locker room in the middle of a 5-3 season

Obligatory reminder that Steve Smith was a 3rd round pick.

I gave OP pie for a subtly valid yet optimistic take on this deal.  But, i dont agree with it.  1) i dont trust us to use the cap room.  2) If we did use it, i dont expect us to make the right move with it. 3) i dont think cap room had anything to do with the reasoning as to why this move was made.  So, all things considered, it was a short-sighted, horrible move of which there are no redemptive qualities.

Even if the 3rd round pick is a complete scrub I still prefer the combo of Norwell/Star to either KB/Star or KB/Norwell.

Games are won in the trenches.

WTF are you even talking about? We could have had KB this year, and STILL kept Norwell Star next year. This isn't an instance where you have to choose one or the other.

We traded a legitimate player on a playoff contender for a future prospect that may or may not be any good in the next 3 seasons. 8 million in cap room isn't enough. We lost a good player.

Norwell isn't worth as much as everyone thinks. Star is, but for how long? KB was never going to be a 1500 yard guy but he gave us something we needed.
