Beane did not call us last minute

Lots of people spreading incorrect information here on the boards so I wanted to clear this up.

Brandon Beane on NFL radio the night of the trade said that he called Hurney the day before inquiring about KB going to Buffalo. They went through the process but couldn't come to an agreement and Beane really thought thats it no deal oh well and moved on.

At 2pm the next day Hurney called Beane and Beane thought to himself "oh I guess there IS a chance". They spend the next two hours hammering out a deal and get the contract submitted with 3 minutes to spare till the deadline.

He then went on to say that he was worn out from running up and down the hall talking to his coaching staff and doing the paperwork.

So please stop with this "this last minute deal no one was considering just happened". Marty had a full day and a half to discuss it with our coaching staff and Owner. It wasn't a spur of the moment decision.

Lol...he strung that out for 2 hrs ?

I guarantee a little bird told Beane that KB would be available for the right price. I'd bet my paycheck on it. Hurney/Rivera knew this would not go over well, so it needed to be the Bills idea. It didn't happen by accident.

Do you have even the tiniest shred of evidence to support that or is it all pure speculation?

The evidence is that KB is no longer on the team. We now know that we valued a 3rd & 7th more than KB. Panthers knew they would not get that in the offseason. No, I did not hear it from Hurney's mouth, but it makes a ton more sense that a deal like that would start with the Panthers. Perhaps Beane did call Hurney first, but I would be shocked if that was really the first workings of the deal. Beane knew how Hurney felt about KB. I would bet that a little note or text made it's way to Beane before the phone call. Hurney wanted this to happen more than anyone else.

All of that is speculation.

You can believe what you want, but you do so without any backup other than your own ideas.

Sure it is, just like you speculate that the GMs are being 100% forthcoming. Either way, it really does not matter whose idea it was. It is done. The only way to know if it works is to wait and see. I'm sure we all hope it does.

I hope it does too.

I'm just not expecting much.

    • He was so much fun to watch as a player but is a prototypical example of the old "never meet your heroes" adage. Great player, not a great guy.
    • Look.... if us BY "haters" give credit about his GWDs...... Will the BY stans also have honest discussion about the 55minutes before the last 5 in which BY has put up 9/20 for 78 yards 0 TDs???
    • The way they are handling now is how they should have handled it from the start instead of that you get a series, you a get a series. Let Chuba spell until he had some of his step back.  We definitely could have put a better showing against Buffalo and their weak run defense had we employed the same game plan we did against Green Bay. Saints were determined to stop the run and make Bryce beat them, Atlanta had similar plan and the coaches and Bryce were able to respond.  Rico although didnt have the best rushing game was vital in the passing game and his catch and run help get us into the redzone there at the end of regulation probably should have been a touchdown that out of bounds was a judgement call it wasn't conclusive and thus should have went with the original call on the field.  Roco brings that dawg to the offense that it shorely lacked up until Miami game. Interesting it was his call that help seal the win for us, glad the coaches were listening. Hope they can get a deal done and run it back next year.
