I can agree on that.  I'm just trying to provide a different perspective on it.

It sounds like it was something hr thought about, but hadnt pulled the trigger on.  But, again, dont get me wrong, Hurney is no mastermind genius.  But, i wonder if he is taking a more no-nonsense approach if he feels like this is his last chance to secure the job.  And if he's not quite comfortable rnough with firing staff members yet, this was the next logical jump.

I kinda doubt Hurney plans much of anything.

He's always been a fly by the seat of his pants guy. And given that he didn't really have the right background for the GM job when he got it, that probably shouldn't surprise anyone.

If a GM doesn’t have the balls to fire the OC if he sees he is the problem, and he passive aggressively trades the teams “#1” receiver because of that reason...he isn’t a good GM

so is that why G-man is gone? except he didn't trade our best receiver he just let him walk...

Gettleman is gone in my opinion because of the Josh Norman fiasco. He wasn't even savvy enough to trade away Josh Norman and get some type of compensation then a few months later Julio puts up 300 yards receiving on the secondary. He should have traded Norman for picks if he knew he wasn't going to pay him.

Bilicheat and Hurney actually knew they should probably get compensation for someone that isn't in their long term plans

This is coming from someone who gave Jon Beason and Deangelo huge contracts that put us in salary hell for years.

Trading Benjamin off may succeed, but it likely won't because we don't have the depth behind him to do anything with. Here are some points to why I say this:

  • I'll go as far as something Steve Smith stated recently -- maybe Funchess is, or can be better then Kelvin. I think Funchess can be a pretty good WR2 if he can keep playing consistently. Funchess is good and does need the ball more -- I think we can all admit to this.
  • DEPTH? I give Curtis Samuel a small pass due to injuries and being a rookie. He's still taking time to develop, and for rookies that aren't featured much, it's hard to get a groove. Other than him, does our WR/TE/RB get a pass? McCaffrey can't be used EVERY play. Our WR squad behind Funchess now is Shepard, Bersin, Byrd, Clay(who?), and Ed Dickson at TE. We're 5-3, and you deal your best target not named Greg Olsen -- WHY?
  • Precisely that: Greg Olsen. Greg will be back, but when he comes back, you have to expect rust to fall off of him. He's going to be slower for the first few games, making him hard to rely on to be a big threat.

Benjamin and management may have hit heads on contract issues, and yes, they did at least get something for him in the process, but with your other weapons injured or playing inconsistent, you can't just deal off your best WR. It makes no sense.

He’s a glorified radio host. How do people not understand this?

i agree with your premise... my comment was more the parallel between the two...whining about the one when both did the same its a matter of who you like and don't like...they are two sides of the same coin...
