Our Run Game, What Is The Problem With This?

The OL could be much better, but these awful Stewart up the gut running play calls happen ever week and kill drives consistently.

I think Stewart still has a little left in the tank, but he shouldn't be relied upon to be the lead back, especially behind the current OL.  Too many times this season when he gets the call up the middle he kills drives like you cited, or at best he slows the momentum of the offense.

It's because half this picture wasn't activated today

We're making a big mistake not activating Armah. Shula has lost his mind. WE need more fullback lead runs... more strong and i-formation. Deactivate Fozzy. That's one problem right there.

McCaffrey averaged 8.9 yards per carry on 7 carries. Stew averaged 1.7 yards per carry on 15 carries (over double the amount).

Both Cam and the coaching staff are under utilizing are best weapon. and keep trying to jam a square peg in a round hole with Stewart.

We got 145 on the ground in large part to McCaffrey and the big end around by Clay. Cam only averaged 3.1 yards per carry to go along with stew's 1.7.

1. No FB.  Remember how good they looked last game when Armah was in

2. Lack of deep threat at WR.   Even though the passing game is getting going more.  There still has been little to none over the top explosive deep plays that the Defense has to pull guys back just of the threat.  Instead teams still can stack up the box

Slow as hell Stew + Shula + no Armah + no WRs = stuffed run game

This coaching staff is straight retarded. I find it hard to believe that they couldn't inactive some scrub so Armah could be active. It just gets ridiculous how many stupid decision this staff makes.

Maybe they weren't trying to show their full hand before the Saints game, but I'll believe that if I see Armah next week.

I think you must be reading my mind. I agree with everything you said in this post.

Not only would Armah help the run blocking , but he also has shown the ability to catch the football and make something happen in space.

J-Stew is slow to hit the holes, we need to give CAP more carries.

What kills me is no matter whether he's good or not they will still sit  him and if he doesn't get something going immediately they sit  him. why aren't they doing the same thing with Stuart he has caused Plenty of slowdowns in momentum   During the game and it doesn't turn around when the game is on the line he will still let you down I'm so over him. Stop giving the goddamn ball to Stewart  goodness gracious knowing how Cam is yeah have to get in a rhythm you have to progress or else we can't come back.  In Stu is one of the things that slows us down so much more goddamn I wish we traded him

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
