What I like about Kaelin Clay is that he has that Steve Smith, Josh Norman DOG in him. We need that on this offense. He has that swagger that you need.

Fast, not afraid of contact, and with a substantial chip on his shoulder

But he had 0 catches! use him on special teams, cut Sheppard and find a real wr

Hes right now by far the fastest and shiftiest WR we have. And after that punt return TD , I'm willing to bet the staff is going to start him opposite of Funchess and make him the #2 WR for now.

The real question is , can he catch the tough passes in tight coverage and outhustle dudes for the ball on the outside? He might be more suited to the slot , I'm not sure right now. He sure hasn't proven much on the outside.  We still are missing the deep ball form our offense, hopefully he can provide that for us vs saints and/or the Vikings. Byrd is a questionmark too in regular season games. One or both of them need to be at least a halfway decent downfield threat for us to have a dep playoff run.

I would settle for just being able to catch period.

He has too because lack of depth but yes he deserves to play more than Shepard.

As stated above about his mindset he's not afraid of contact and he's been a very good blocker for us. Plus I hate having our number one draft pick and one of the best talents on the team CMC returning punts and taking those extra hits of people flying down full speed.

Funchess seems a little banged up and if we don't have him our WR core is real slim.

Clay, Funchess, Byrd should be playing all WR snaps instead of anyone else on the team.

One thing I saw today vs the saints is they don't have great speed sideline to sideline. We could hit some big plays with our option jet sweeps and end arounds with Clay, Byrd, CMC. LA did a lot of that and wore the saints down and had them hesitating with their first step opening up the running and stop and go routes. We def need to be creative next Sunday and hit some chunk plays.

Clay looks pretty dangerous with the ball in his hands, need to get him more involved in the offense. He kind of reminds of Steve Smith (ish). He's got the return ability, but raw as hell as a receiver. If he can develop his craft as receiver, he could turn into a nice player for us. Not going to say he's the next Steve Smith (likely not), but he has the same blueprint.
