Captain Morgan

Rivera: Daryl Worley is getting his foot checked out. Was in a boot last night.

No updates from RR except Greg Olsen and Daryl Worley are “seeing the doctor.”

No update on Greg Olsen from Ron Rivera, both he and Daryl Worley will be seeing the doctor today.

No updates from Rivera on Greg Olsen, Daryl Worley. Says he thinks Devin Funchess stubbed his toe.

RR: Greg Olsen and Daryl Worley (foot) both seeing the doctor.

RR: Cam’s thumb issue “may have been why some of the balls sailed on him.”

RR: Cam Newton's thumb may have factored into grip on ball, way it sailed.

RR says Cam was making good decisions, but missed some throws. Said the thumb might have affected it, but they'll see how it looks on Wednesday.

Rivera says it's "pointing in the direction" of WR Damiere Byrd being activated this week.

Damiere Byrd’s activation “is pointing in that direction” for later this week. #asexpected Also, Captain Munnerlyn is here and feeling better.

Captain Munnerlyn is back and virus-free. Rivera jokes he still won't hug him, though.

Rivera says Armah was deactivated because game plan dictated they wanted three TEs active. Said Armah will have opportunities to be active going forward.

RR: Daryl Williams graded out 100 percent in pass protection vs Jets.

Rivera: RT Daryl Williams earned a game ball with an outstanding performance against the Jets. Really putting it all together in his third season.

Ron Rivera says LB Ben Jacobs has taken on the role of Mike Tolbert in the locker room, and is the often-unheralded glue of the linebackers unit.

Steve Wilks up. He's happy with the record but unhappy with inconsistency. "That's something that's very correctable."

Steve Wilks: "Disappointed with our inconsistency and the big plays we gave up in the back end."

Both Coach Rivera and Coach Wilks say that the big plays against the Jets came from eye discipline AKA "Dirty Eyes". Going to be even more important this week against Drew Brees.

Steve Wilks: Disappointed in our inconsistency, esp the explosive plays we gave up in the back end. That’s very uncharacteristic.

clearly we missed Captain yesterday. Hopefully he's good to go against the Saints.

Also, Daryl Worley in a boot? Daryl, I definitely wish you a healthy and speedy recovery, but lets not rush things. If you need to take the rest of the season and the postseason to heal, by all means take your time. The last thing we want is for you to re-aggravate that injury. :100_Emoji_42x42:

Manhertz doesn't need to be active, neither does Fozzy. We have CAP and Clay can return kicks on both

Lol @ explosive plays being given up by the back end being “uncharacteristic”

I know they mention Daryl Williams but I feel like Matt Kalil continued to improve yesterday (minus the one false start). If this trend continues and Kalil can prove he can hold his own against one of the best this Sunday in Cam Jordan I’m willing to buy into this contract.

But, but, I was told on here he is trash by someone, and that person even made a thread on it.  Good God LOL.

Fua, but I was told it's all Trae Turner making Daryl Williams look good.  That's what I was told on here by someone.

Olines been getting better as the season has gone on, thats not that surprising. Kalil had never played with them before and Williams, Larsen didn't have a wealth of experience starting either, with our only season vets on the line were Turner and Norwell and they can't hold up an entire line all by themselves. Huge kudos to our tackles in particular doing really good in pass pro. Sometimes I saw Cam rushing the throw or getting happy feet when he couldve just stepped up and had a couple more seconds. Literally saw Matt Kalil pankcake block the free blitzer on a 3rd and long and then shift over to blocking another dude, that was bad ass. I'm not sure Cam fully trust them yet even though they're improving alot, Cam's probably still has PTSD from getting killed last season .

Even more surprising than the oline is how well McCaffrey has done in pass protection being a 205 pound RB. He's defiintely learning from stew how to chop dudes and give Cam an extra second or 2, I'm not sure that McCaffrey had any whiffs this past game and passed blocked a number of times.  Saca def needs to do a McCaffrey blocking thread when the season is over.

    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
    • I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
    • Certainly not going to miss his constant whiffs on sacks and tackles.
