I understand that completely, just wouldn't ever think someone would publicly say a team is for sale unless it was all of it, if it was just his shares, it'd be done behind closed doors for sure

Wouldn't expect that he could sell the shares of the team that belong to someone else. And this was all still voluntary. The NFL didn't force it.

Hopefully we hear more later.

I don't get this. When I read this I figured characters like diddy and co would have a better chance at getting some smaller stake in the team but apparently thats not the case? Like who the fug is gonna shell out that much money for the whole team? Or is it safe to assume that once someone pays the billions upfront theyll start divvying it up?

But why are they cashing out?

Could be nothing major, but...

My only guess would be they figure their investment has reached it's potential. Factoring in the current climate with CTE and possible scandals on the horizon that will inevitably surface in today's social media frenzy.  Selling high.

Means the other owners knew all about the shenanigans and NDAs, did nothing, and now they are getting the boot as well.

It could be. But I think it's more about the money and the future if the NFL.  The scandals aren't good for business so it's wise to get out while your profit is at it's highest.  If you have dirt on your hands then your incentive just increased.

I was hoping one of the minority owners would up their share and take control. Doesn't sound like that'll happen now.

Whole new ballgame coming up.

Its going to take some mighty deep pockets to buy this team then.  I hope some one like King Faisal doesn't buy the team and move them to the middle east.

Good chance it will be another group with a majority "controlling interest" owner just like we have now, just a different set of people.

With the value of NFL franchises these days, it'd take a mighty mighty singular and wealthy individual to swing the whole enchilada.  Not that there aren't people out there who could do it.
