Independent law firm will handle Richardson investigation

I am curious why it would matter now?  The worst punishment they can inflict on an owner is to force him to sell the team.  So, whats the point?  Unless the activities are criminal in nature.  And if they are criminal, then the police should be doing the investigation.

I suppose there could be others involved, maybe in some sort of cover up.  Maybe that is why the investigation would continue.

I thought the whole reason he agreed to step away was to avoid an investigation that would reveal more embarrassing details.  Heck, Richardson may have thought that too.

My guess would be the NFL is covering their ass on this. Could also be under some outside pressure not to just let this slide.

I hope they aren't going to punish the organization if it turns out that this was Richardson alone.

Failure to report non-disclosure agreements is a violation of league policy, and there's speculation that that's part of the investigation.

The team could indeed lose draft picks over that.
