Not that it's a shock, but Wilks is the only Panthers coach on the list.

If we make a deep run in the playoffs Wilks will be gone.  I would rather we hire within as Holcomb and Washington know the players and will probably have similar styles to Wilks.

You give me a Ferrari, I can drive fast. That doesn't make me a good driver. Wilks inherited a juggernaut, that doesn't make him a defensive genius. If he knew his ass from a hole in the ground, New Orleans wouldn't have destroyed us twice.

We rarely tap a retread as a coordinator in Panther land.  Things are likely to change now that JR is leaving, but that seems to be a cultural thing around here.  The last one we had was Dan Henning, I think, and he had not been a head coach for a decade.

I would first look to a current assistant, then I would look around the league for promising position coaches with relationships to Rivera.  And then I would make a confident prediction, after which the Panthers make me look like an idiot and do something way smarter.  That's how it usually works, anyway.

Davidson, Meeks, Shula, chudzinski  had all been coordinators. It's up to the coach.

Fox might have been the only one to go with fresh DCs

I was referring to Head Coaches who have stepped back into coordinator roles.  I don't think we've had a lot of those as a franchise.
