It’s not like his numbers are really that much different from the past few years.  People though, or were hoping, something would be different.  I’m usually not a fan of overpaying free agents but I was hoping we would offer Whiteorth enough for him to consider us.

For those that want to point out Ramcyzk I would guess a lot of them would have picked Robinson.

The worst part was that Whitworth got paid less with a shorter contract.

Isn't it interesting how on the huddle Gettleman so effortlessly goes from being worshipped for his ruthlessness to just being a helpless JR puppet depending on the resulting ramifications from one of his moves.

Yeah, that is kind of what I mean. I believe the first part about him being ruthless because it seems to make more sense based on what former and current players seemed to indicate about him. That is why I don't buy into a sudden turn to doing what JR said. IMO, Gettleman just made an awful move. I think he didn't particularly value offensive linemen and that ended up biting him.

I honestly think JR is why we signed him. I don't fault Gettleman much for the Kalil thing cuz I just have a feeling his hands were tied

Bullshit, so now all of a sudden gettleman is not responsible for his fug ups?

This is why i take all the hurney bashing with a grain of salt.

Don't be naive. I've said that he screwed up and don't support him ever coming back. But it's a well known fact that Kalil is one of JR's guys

I never once said he wasn't responsible for his fug ups. If I did, please quote me so I can admit to it.  He messed up plenty

Yeah but do you honestly believe he caved on something like that but wouldn't on Olsen or TD's contracts? That doesn't seem likely. Now, is it possible JR was in favor of signing Matt? Sure. I just don't buy this theory that JR held that much sway over Gettlemen, which is probably part of the reason he was fired.

I could possibly begin to consider giving Gettleman a bit of a pass for Matt Kalil if he didn't also let Ted Ginn walk in favor of Charles Johnson and Russell Shepard after seeing how signing Tiquan Underwood worked out for us.

I don't know.. It doesn't really matter though. Gettleman is gone and not coming back. Hopefully hurney follows shortly and we move on to a better GM than both of rhem

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
