Has Norv Turner actually been Hired ?

I keep seeing all these threads about how we should be excited, not be excited, how Norv will be good for Cam and how Norv will be Cam's death bed.  I checked the panthers web site and googled a bit but still haven't seen proof that NT has been hired by the Panthers.  Just wondering if I am missing something ?

No, not yet. As far as we know, he hasn't even interviewed yet.

I think it's more like he's doing the interviews.  Ron is going to have to sell him on taking the job I'm certain.

It will all come down to getting Newton to buy in however.  If Cam at with it then we have a problem.

i read up on his resignation in Minni— all of a sudden, said he felt like he was holding their offense back.

At his age he is not going to compromise his beliefs so it's understandable.  He doesn't need the job or the stress.  He will take it if everyone buys in and stays bought it.  Otherwise they are wasting his time.

I would think if he did it would be from some unforeseen issue just revealed... I think generally the deal was done before this week.

I think if he isn't doing it, it would have been reported they would be interviewing other guys for the job. I have yet to hear anything about any other candidate interviewing for the job. I think Norv will be good if we add a #1 WR and a RB that can carry the mail on 1st and 2nd down, if needed. Remember, Turner coached RBs like LT, Turner, Tolbert, Sproles, etc. so he knows how to work with RBs as well as TE's (had Gates his entire time at SD). Also, he gradually helped Rivers, and although Cam isn't as dynamic of a passer as Rivers, he's never had a true Dual Threat. I think we will see similar things from Cam like we did from his rookie year with Chud as OC. I like this hire. We can't get much worse than what Shula did.

Cam will have essentially zero input into who we hire as OC. And that's the way it should be.

    • Unless the league decides to rollback the rule book 30 years, that player at QB isn't winning any Super Bowls.  QB has to elevate those around him.  QBs that are carried by the team are always exposed in the playoffs. Closest thing to an average QB that has won the SB recently is Jalen Hurts.  But he's so unique with his legs and the unstoppable tush push that I don't think it's easy to compare him to anyone.  Certainly not someone who is subbed out for QB sneaks.
    • You absolutely can have hope. You can’t convert people though; making advocacy posts are kind of … not reading the room.   I had a small hope that he would be able to at least manage some games and that they could make it work in some kind of no fun to watch fashion.  But honestly I had 100% determined he was not NFL starter material, and I had conviction. So to root for him to marginally succeed goes against the best interest of the Panthers long term, according to my beliefs. I wanted him gone the minute he got here if I am honest. It was up to him to prove otherwise.  He has rarely shown me anything to think I was wrong on his ceiling.  He did show me some courage last year, standing in the pocket and stepping into his throw in the face of pressure - but that has gone somewhere. He made some nice throws last year in places too, but they invested in him on the level of the Atlanta game should be his norm. Good luck seeing that again on Sunday. Still, he did it once, so technically it could happen again.
    • Damn that was a longer post than I intended, Maybe I should have started a new thread.
