USA Today's Lucas Ewing, a guy who gives us good insight into training camp and pre-season, is weighing in on possible FA targets. Mind you,  it's not a scoop or insider info,  just his thoughts (it sounds like).

Peruse the "slide show" and give your thoughts. But,  just for your convenience,  here's the list:

DT,  Dominique Easley

WR,  Allen Robinson,  Jags

CB,  Kyle Fuller,  Bears

S,  Tre Boston,  Chargers

DE,  Ezekiel Ansah,  Lions

WR,  Marquise Lee,  Jags

OT,  Cameron Fleming,  Pats

Now we know that a lot of this is going to come down to the market and allocation of money,  and how the FO wants to begin putting the puzzle together for a championship run,  but suffice it to say that if we could get Robinson and Wesley relatively cheaply,  I'd jump on it notwithstanding knee issues (and basically know what you're buying and have contingencies if things go south). If we can get Marquise Lee at about the same price that Russell Shepard's services were bought for, like Lucas speculates, then sign me up for that right away!

Ansah at a halfway decent deal would be great, and who would argue about adding Kyle Fuller to our DBs?

Now Boston...I don't really see that happening...and Cameron Fleming is just an OK signing. I'd have to look at possible fourth round picks before I'd make that move.

That's a lot of money he is talking about....

Is it though?  It just depends.  We have money to find if need be.  Comes down to choices.  And it's  not like he's talking about acquiring the complete list,  just giving options.

Id let Norwell, Star walk, Cut stew , Charles Jonson, Russell Shepard, Kurt Coleman, Fozzy . Restructure Kalil and Olsen (or even better cut then resign to much cheaper deals) . With that wed have much more cap to spend, even enough to get 2 high profile people. Id throw the farm at Robinson and Lee, and spend the draft on defense and a power RB

Brees will take 20+mil alone

Brees counts $6 million against the cap now, which escalates to $18 million when he becomes a FA. One could realistically say the Saints have $22 million in cap space, with Brees counting $18 million against the cap.

The Saints, for the first time in quite a while, have plenty of cap flexibility.
