Neither team played outstanding defense the Eagles simply got a stop when they needed it and the Patriots didn't. Offense wasn't a problem for either team tonight.

Actually, I think the Eagles defense did a decent job in the first half. They held them to 12 points and had them going to trick plays way earlier in the game than you really should.

Second half adjustments made a huge difference.

So you’re saying they didn’t earn the sack fumble? Those kinds of things happen. Maybe they knew they needed to make a play and they did.

Considering how often we see the Patriots make those types of plays happen at crunch time, it's unusual to see it happen to the Patriots.  I'm sure that play will be broken down to the smallest detail and become part of Eagles lore.

Hogan was taken down at about the 20 yard line on the hail Mary.  Is there a reason I don't know that makes that legal?  Did anyone else see that on the replay?

Precedent has shown that teams can get away with just about anything on a Hail Mary play. It's one of those moments where I think referees are too afraid to throw a flag and cause a massive controversy.

This is the guy jumping on Gronk's back when he goes up to catch.  How do you let that go man?  He can't even get his feet off the ground because the guy is literally jumping off his back.

LOL! What in the hell is that picture supposed to show? With all the HD cameras covering that game you're gonna post a picture that looks like it's a screen capture from the Zapruder film?

Fixed that for you.

Though honestly I put it more on Shula than Remmers. Everyone on the planet except Mike Shula (including Mike Remmers) knew that Remmers had no shot against Von Miller because Remmers always struggles mightily against speed rushers yet Shula left him on an island against the best speed rusher in the NFL time and time again. The guy was setup to fail by his OC.

I agree there the OC problems showed up big time in that game, I can't imagine the Patriots ever being held to just 10 points in a playoff game no matter how much they struggle.

Might have been is the key. My point is that their QB play was already very good. Better QB play wasn't going to do much for them because their D was letting Brady walk all over them for the majority of the game. A different QB playing for the Eagles wouldn't change that.

They adjusted there defensive line just at the right time. The Pats had no answer.

Well, conveniently, the NFL isn't showing the replay on NFL.com that they showed in game where you get a good angle of it from the front view.   I'm sure they'll be a better video soon, but you can clearly see the guy pushing his hand down onto Gronk's helmet and jumping off of him to get leverage.

Have you ever watched a Hail Mary before?

And for the record, receivers have recorded catches and defensive backs have recorded interceptions by jumping over the shoulder and/or the head of an opposing player in front of them. It's legal.

Yeah it's very hard to beat the Patriots, the last time they lost by double digits in a playoff game was against the Broncos 4 years ago.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
