Yes.  I hate the man personally.  You got me.  Can't escape your clear powers of perception.

You accused me of hoping for a bad thing to happen to someone in real life over football.  I called you on it and quoted where you did it,  Now instead of manning up and apologizing for it, you're trying to deflect.

That tells me a lot.

Everyone here knows how happy you would be if Hurney was put on permanent paid leave and a new GM was hired. You can spin it so that I'm the asshole here, but you're gonna get dizzy.

What about a retracted accusation?

She didn't retract the accusation, she retracted the complaint.  Effectively, she's saying that while he did these things, she doesn't want it to go to court.

Now, I agree with what you're saying.  Based on what we know (not what the Marty haters hope/wish), there is a very high likelihood that this is complete BS and a failed money grab by his ex-wife.  While I don't think he is as bad of a GM as some have convinced themselves he is, I don't think he is particularly good either.  I personally prefer someone with direct scouting experience.  With that said, I would hate for him to lose/not get the job because of this smelly accusation.  I'd rather he not get the job based on merit.

Which is effectively saying she doesn't want it to go to court because she can't prove it beyond a resonable doubt.

I don't want him as a GM but that's a different story and independent of this

Conveniently she created it after trying to get more alimony. The judge said there wasn't evidence of it, then marty tattled right after it happened. The team told the NFL and Marty was put on leave. Then she withdrew the claim and her lawyer says there's nothing to see here. This wreaks of showmanship and greed.

I'd be happy if Marty Hurney wasn't the GM here anymore. I would not be happy in any way, shape or form to see his life destroyed.

Someone I know was falsely accused of molesting kids, so I've seen up close the kind of damage a false accusation can do.  I've also seen a friend that I strongly defended against an allegation of date rape turn out to actually be guilty.  That was just as bad.  And having been divorced before and been around others who've divorced, I've seen just how ugly domestic situations where people's emotions run high can get.

None of this screams "good situation" to me.

Again, you haven't got a clue about me and you haven't understood most of what I've said, yet you still suggested that I would be okay with a terrible thing happening and tried to deflect when you were called on it.  So yes, that makes you an asshole.

It very well could be garbage, yet still affect his ability to get the job.

Fair?  Hell no, but that's the world we live in.

What I found most suspicious about her responses was the discussion about how "none of these charges affect his ability to run a football team."  Like I said before, you could see that as just her not being vindictive and hoping she doesn't cause him irreparable harm.  However, it's just as easy to see this as trying to make sure he keeps his high paying job so she can get more money.

The whole thing is an unholy mess that could go in a lot of different directions.

And yeah, given what Richardson was accused of, a story like this does indeed make it more difficult to hand Hurney the job.

What the team could do is something similar to what the Texans did: Install someone else as GM and put Hurney on "paid leave" indefinitely.

Marty still gets paid, probably for a while (at least until new ownership steps in) but we get a new GM.

I can live with that.

So you're not exciting about the man losing his job but "you can live with it".

Lol....yep, I'm the asshole.

Real dilemma for her, she can't say the allegations are false or she gets nailed for filling a false lawsuit and if he doesn't get the GM job in part die to these allegations, he sues her for slander and libel. Hence the reason her attorney said that nothing should impact his ability to lead a football team.  When they filed the complaint they painted the worse picture they could to get more money. Now it will be scrutinized for accuracy and examined closely and she may have liability.

    • okay I found this and it sounds like my hopes for the first surgery being not such a great job seems like it could be actual reality.  I only hoped because that would give a better chance for recovery and ia a possible scenario so I just thought it could be possible. Had no real evidence of it. But I’ll be damned.    This is a detailed report of Brooks’ surgery and the condition of his knee after the failed repair.     https://x.com/jmthrivept/status/2055743129408704806?s= Sparked by some very good questions by @CoachspeakIndex, here’s some info on Jonathon Brooks: 1. Speculation that the first graft/ACLR by Dr. Cooper didn’t “take” or at least was too lax, leading to failure and re-tear. Brooks dealt with issues cutting, progressing in his rehab into the early stages of 2024 and then re-tore it late 2024, requiring a second ACLR in January 2025 (essentially revision). Notably, CAR prolonged Brooks’ rehab process through Sept-Oct due to issues progressing into the next stages of rehab. 2. Second surgery performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who has extensive experience with revisions. He did a double bundle technique, harvesting graft from Brooks’ left patellar tendon and a strip of his right IT Band (his right patellar tendon had been utilized for the prior graft in 2023. The double bundle technique significantly increases rotational stability of the knee, leading to a stronger and more secure graft/reconstruction. Also to note, Brooks’ surgery wasn’t significantly delayed, meaning that the tunnels from his prior ACLR were in good shape and they didn’t need to perform bone grafts to fill in (would have delayed 2nd surgery by 5-6 months). Essentially, reading the tea leaves tells me that everything else except for the graft itself was still in good quality within his knee. Good sign for future.  3. Typically, you see a performance increase anywhere from 16-20 months post-revision. Brooks will be ~21 months out from his second surgery by the time Week 1 hits. His knee should be more stable and stronger this time around, with adequate time for healing and return to all movement patterns. I’m not viewing this situation as a typical “Player __ had TWO ACL tears, he’s cooked” situation. Rather, I’m viewing it as the first procedure failed, but the second procedure is significantly stronger and should allow him to return to form this time around. I don’t know why it posted as a link but there it is.
    • Jackie, any more reps tomorrow, or is that it for this session?  thanks for the work
    • How can you say they aren’t trying to win now with all the moves made in free agency? Or is trading first round picks the only way to be win now? I’d be fine never trading another first round pick again, win now be damned.
