Franchise Tag period opens

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

As of today, teams may officially apply the franchise or transition tag to players.

Don't really expect to see the Panthers use either one, but it will be interesting to see what other teams do. Some free agents which could be of potential interest to the Panthers may wind up being tagged.

He'll get extended

Tricky, though.

I'm not a real big fan of how much money he's making right now, and still won't be if we extend him with a similar salary. But on the flipside, if we offer him less and he doesn't take it, then yeah, couldda had Butker on a rookie contract.

Granted, it's possible he could accept a lower contract, but he had a good year and frankly how often does that happen anyway?

Weve already made our bed with him. We need to pay him. If we let him walk after letting go of butker how in the hell does any of that make any sense?
