Another potential owner: David Tepper

He is one the better options so far.  I like that he would be coming from a winning organization and hopefully has some real insight as to how to mimic that here.  On a side note, given his affiliation with a team that has a stadium downtown with no chance of ever hosting a SB, maybe he wouldn't be so quick to push for a new stadium in a cow pasture.

Rapoport sounds like he takes it seriously.

Saw one estimate that had his net worth at 11.7 billion, so closer to 12.

Another quote...

I am the animal at the head of the pack. I generally am. I either get eaten or I get the good grass.

Basically, full speed all the time, balls to the wall attitude.

Only concern so far is that he sounds frugal as hell. May be back to shopping at the dollar store.

But that’s not a terrible thing. We don’t want to be in cap hell every other year like most teams.

NFL.com's Mike Garofolo reports "billionaire hedge fund manager" David Tepper has emerged as the "frontrunner" to buy the Panthers.

One of the richest men in the country, Tepper is currently a minority owner in the Steelers. He is the founder and president of Appaloosa Management, a "global hedge fund firm based in Miami Beach." Regardless of whether or not it's Tepper, someone extremely rich is going to buy the Panthers.

I think with him though there’s a larger concern he’d move the team and that’s ultimately the most important factor in the sale... Would prefer Navarro for that reason.

Is there, though?  I mean, he could pay to build a new stadium in the Charlotte area largely out of his own pocket.

I guess it's just a matter of interpretation.

What strikes me here is that he's a guy whose favorite team has always been the Steelers and he grew up watching them play old school football. Gotta believe he'd want the organization run a lot like they are which, for all his stated admiration of the Steelers, is the polar opposite of how Jerry Richardson has run the Panthers to date.

Feels like he'd likely bring a very Pittsburgh, working class attitude to the team.
