The ESPN insider is headlining with the possibility that Peppers could get traded to the Patriots. I don't have insider and I realize that the Panthers have had a ton of "rumors" on here that never came true but I was wondering what it said. I'd hope that any deal that gets done is better than a 2nd or 3rd rounder, it should be interesting leading up to the 20th. My gut says nothing happens.

There have been rumors flying about the New England Patriots possibly trading for Julius Peppers since the beginning of the offseason and they've persisted in spite of repeated debunkings.

Although it's a hypothetical, NFL Insider Adam Schefter has also brought up the San Francisco 49ers as a possible destination for Peppers, should the Carolina Panthers elect to trade him.

A trade to the Niners would be particularly ironic, as it would likely involve a 2010 first-round pick, and the Niners currently own the Panthers' 2010 first-rounder. In exchange for that pick, the Panthers got the Niners' second-round pick in April, which they used on defensive end Everette Brown, who is still learning at the altar of Peppers. It's the circle of life in the NFL, folks.

Who wants a 16mil dollar DE that tries to play about every 2nd or 3rd game?

People made similar comments about Moss before he resurrected his career in New England. While I don't think we've kept Peppers from succeeding, as the Raiders did with Moss, I wouldn't be surprised if Peppers was a dominant force in New England. A change of scenery can do wonders (see Braylon Edwards to the Jets just a week ago).

I agree but from the looks of what was posted on the insider it doesn't really seem like there is much of a story here. I honestly think that some of these reports just throw everything out there in hopes of something being right at some point. As much as people talk badly about Peppers I really doubt we'd be better off without him at this point. After the season is a different story but not now. As much as I like Johnson I think he is better suited playing opposite Peppers and Brayton is better at stopping the run. Brown could potentially replace him but he isn't going to make the same kind of plays right now or at any point this season.

I do like Brown's motor though, he is the kind of guy that I wish are team was filled with. The Smitty's, Beasons, Davis', and Brown's are too few and far between on this team.

Here is the best way I can describe ESPN. ESPN reporters are like "psychics" that prey on old ladies whose only income is their dead husband's pension and social security. They tell these old ladies 15 different forms of bullshit, hoping that just one will stick, thus giving them credibility, and then it will keep the old ladies coming back.

"You will unexpectedly come into a lot of money."

"Oh my god, I found a $5 bill in my purse! She was right!"

That is the essence of ESPN "journalism". Throw 100 bullshit rumors at the wall and pray to god one of them sticks. 99% of them have no foundation, and are just people like Schefter and Mort saying to themselves, "Hmm, who has a 1st rounder to give up and could use a 6' 6" 287 lb. super athletic defensive end?"

    • The OP for one. Asserting that people blamed Bryce for the loss in the title of the thread. That was not the prevailing sentiment at the time this thread was created. Very much a minority thing, I don’t remember but maybe one person if that, putting it on Bryce as the main reason. Troll thread. Did a good job too. Look at the pages.  Someone counting up the draft picks as 10 on offense and 10 on defense or whatever the number was, today or yesterday - of which the offensive ones were heavily 1s and 2s and the defensive picks were heavily day 3 and declaring that proof that the offense wasn’t favored like people claim. The obvious neglect we watched for two years. I spent time refuting that bullshit because someone needed to.  People saying we are bad horrible people and hate poor lil Bryce for no reason, as if it is a personal thing. Constantly.   Along the same lines is people saying we non Bryce fans would rather lose than have him play well and the team wins. That we are mad when the team wins   Point illustrated.
    • Pretty sure he hasn’t
    • Might not have been in this specific thread... As far as the other, I'm not necessarily reading every post that isn't responding to me so I don't think I saw that. Mind you, we've certainly seen the "not a real fan" stuff on here before.
