Ehhhhh everyone and their mama saw that shitshow coming due to the lockout. To follow-up a Super Bowl appearance with 2016's Off-season however? Straight up dumptser diving Dave juice.

Hurney recently said that drafting for need after Round One is why he made mistakes.

Wanna bet we draft for need again?

You don’t reach for need, but drafting for need Is a must, guys like Butler is the reason you don’t draft for luxury

Hurney said his plan for this draft is to go BPA in every round.

Bpa for a need

Quote

"We've talked a lot about when you get to the second round," Hurney said before leaving for Indy. "We might have leaned toward need more (in the past), but if you keep that first-round philosophy (of best available player) in the second and third rounds, then you'd like your top three-round picks to come in and if they don't start in their first year at least fill a role and contribute.

"Keeping that philosophy after the first round – that's something I've been going through in my mind."

"You don't want to sit there and say, ‘We're going to take this approach,' because that's where sometimes you reach for somebody," Hurney said. "I think you have to let the situations come to you."

Like I said you want to bet we draft a position of need?

Than you try to to validate the pick by saying it was the “bpa” after we make the pick.

Argue with Hurney.  Those are his words, not mine.

And given just how many needs we have, well...

All GM say we are gonna draft BPA, most of them don’t stick to that plan. Or try to validate it by drafting a need and saying it was the bpa at the time.

    • The same folks crying about the OL right now were crying about it in 2023 too. We have tied up over 100 million dollars in two interior olinemen alone. We've invested multiple first and second round picks in the offense. We hired an offensive minded head coach. This is an offensive team. The offense needs to produce or people need to be replaced.
    • This is the same place that has ridiculed and blasted Caleb Williams at every opportunity he has his team sitting at 10-4 in the same NFC that the Panthers are competing in. And their division in the NFC North is as or more competitive as our division. Yet from the same people who have very high standards for Williams we get every excuse imaginable for the smallest starting QB in the league even when he and his team continue to disappoint when the pressure is on. You lot aren't any less inconsistent than anyone else.
    • The Panthers are 9th in cap spent on offense this year.  However next season is already a different story  The Panthers as it stands right now will be 18th in cap spent on offense and 8th in cap spent on defense  The Panthers are currently set to spend more on defense next year than they are on offense this season Guys like Jaycee and Moehrig cap numbers take a big jump. Wharton has a massive cap hit   Jaycee Moehrig and Wharton in 2025 The same 3 in 2026 So this same defense as it stands right now will cost more in 2026 than this offense does right now… Got anything else you want to try?
