REPORT: Panthers are not done in free agency

In the Panthers’ case, general manager Marty Hurney still has roster gaps at cornerback, safety and offensive line, with tight end and running back depth a little farther down the list.

That represents too many needs to be filled adequately in the draft, so the Panthers aren’t done with free agency just yet. (They still need to make a decision on backup quarterback Derek Anderson, by the way.)

Sure is, his coverage abilities are excellent.

Don't want to sound dumb here but he has been my safety for a few years in Fantasy and he is a tackling machine too.  Stuffs the stat sheet and that tells me he is involved and making plays.  "When healthy" is the big thing though.

Unfortunately, Eric Reid is not an option for this ownership so I believe we're signing Tyvon Branch, eventually.

We don't currently have ownership.  Under JR? Absolutely, our franchise wouldn't touch him, but until we have a new owner, we can sign whoever we want regardless of off-field stances.

This is also why I'm thinking a guy like Goodnight would be ideal.  He's from NC and from what I gather, a very forward-thinking and progressive mind.

Richardson is still in charge until late May.

    • I don't really care as much about athleticism and arm strength.  While Murray might be better in that regard, I think Bryce has enough of both to do well in the NFL. The main reason this trade reference is silly is the money and the fact that Murray has been around a long while and hasn't proven that he can perform consistently when the game is on the line.  Bryce has shown that he can play well in the clutch (in the few opportunities he has had).
    • If Bryce can continue the level of play he showed after the benching, then there's a good shot we at least compete to win the division. Tampa is a solid team but even last year in our week division they went 10-7 and will be on their 4th OC in as many years. The Saints are a mess and are in a mist of a half rebuild half still trying to compete mode and will probably be starting a rookie QB. The Falcons are a wild card as they have a really good offense but are we really crowning Michael Penix as a franchise QB after just 3 games?  The only thing I want out of this season is for Bryce to come out and without a shadow of a doubt prove he's our franchise QB. If that happens then most of the fanbase would be happy and I believe we'd be in a good place record wise at the end of the season. Maybe falling just short of winning the division with a chance to sneak in as a wild card team.
