Is there are more "dangerous" pick out there right now than WR?

Maybe OT or QB, but even 50% of QB's seem to be capable, seems like less than 25% of WR's are making the transition quickly enough.

The average transition was 3 years but many fans now are calling a wr a bust after half of their rookie season

We've got people on here who will call players a bust after the first play of their first game.

True Story:  I called Dwayne Jarrett a bust during OTAs of his Rookie year. I got buried.   I also proclaimed that Beason was a stud.

Well, it used to be some of them.  These days, it's getting to be most of them.

Absolutely.  Something that most thought was getting better. It's also responsible for the receiver market being skewed in the receivers favor.  Best lock up Funchess while we can.

These comments (among other observation) point to the need for the NFL to bite the bullet and pay for the creation a true farm/development league instead of relying on colleges to do for free. College coaches and teams will continue to do what's best for them, as they should.

I could not possibly agree more. The entire college grind, on all sides, can be best summed with two words: "Perverse incentives"

This article supports what has often been said about Funchess. He came out of Michigan knowing (if not excelling at) all 3 WR positions, not to mention TE. What he lacked in speed and athleticism, he made up for in smarts. I really think he's going to explode now that he's in his 4th season, and finally out of KB's enormous shadow.

I'm pretty conflicted on drafting rookie wide receivers in the first round. To me, they've gotta be in that AJ Green/Julio mold to justify taking. Organizations like the Steelers and Packers have no problem finding receiving talent in round two and later. Granted, it helps to have Rodgers/Big Ben as QB.

I think the other factor that has to be mentioned is the lack of practice time due to the current CBA. Less practice means less reps, especially when it comes to running a precise route.

Its not just college but the High school level also. I was drilled on all the routes and fundamentals back in the day at independence. I watch high school football today and it seem like the kids is not getting the coaching they need. Small play books, small easy routes, no passing game. The same kids going to college not learning nothing. Make them unprepared for the Pro's.
