Game of Thrones - Season 8

From the books, I think Jon is Azor Ahai.

I may be the only one who thinks Samwell dies in the Crypts. Not sure his role after this episode.  He has already revealed to Dany and Jon the truth (backed up by Bran) of their lineage, he has given his family sword to Jorah...what is left for him? Am I missing something?

I think there was a major spoiler at the end of the second episode post credit trailer. I'm not totally sure if it's confirmed or that it will happen but.... If you look really close you can see that HBO's The Wire is the greatest show of all time.

I think Sam writes the "book of ice and fire" after it all.

Anyway I think Jamie is my first pick to be Azor Ahai, or no one.    But Hound would be too on the nose for GRRM I think, too obvious.    Jamie's character has had a full development and the way Bran acted like he's very important makes me think.

He'll be the head of House Tarly at the very least. I'm assuming what is left of their forces are already with Dany at Winterfell anyway. Little Sam can be his heir.

re-touching my Azor Ahai list:

Jon - most obvious from books and show

The Hound - my #1 for a long time because of his character development. He goes from being basically a merc/sellsword to actually being a human being, and caring about the Stark girls, and justice in the cold, dark world that saw him marred by fire. He basically died (the Hound persona) in the Saltpans in the books (and on the show, in somewhat different circumstances, after his brother and company burned everything there ("amidst salt and smoke")

Sam - it'd be fitting for the "I always wanted to be a wizard" fat nerd kid to triumph and become a hero of legend after arriving at the wall basically a coward afraid of his own shadow. He's killed a White Walker, fought for and saved the innocent (Gilly and little Sam,) had an amazing journey, and now is the last male heir to his house.

Jaime - Arguably the most redemptive character arc in the series, minus maybe Theon. Without his actions, none of this would have been possible. Cersei is his Nissa Nissa. He's already "killed" the lion within himself.

Jorah - I only give him an outside shot at the AA prophecy on the off chance he has to murder Dany, his obvious love, in order to save humanity.

you just shook so bad by these last two epic episodes bruh... you worried that GoT gonna take that spot in your heart...

I have a feeling after episode three we'll all either be completely devastated, or completely elated.

Can't judge a series until it has ended so you've got me there. But it would need the perfect fuging ending.

What would that be, for you?

I'm kinda torn, personally. In a way, I think everyone dying would be what was fitting.

In a way, you hope for your favorites to somehow win in the end. For me, that'd at least be the Hound, Bronn, and maybe Arya. I think my boi Tormund is done, unless he indeed lives and is given a castle like the Last Hearth or even Castle Black or something like that. That would be sweet.

Maybe the perfect ending for me would be for there to be no more Iron Throne. No more one seat to rule from. Maybe they figure out that they can live more peacefully without someone having to be king or queen.

I think they kind of touched on it with Bran talking about why the Night King targeting him because he wants to end history. He wants everyone to forget everything in the past, and for an endless night. But night/day, dark/light, life/death, fire/ice are all nonexistent without the known presence of its opposite. Because of this, I think the White Walkers/Night King survive, but maybe the realms reunite and figure out a way to keep the balance/wall up.

This is the most poetic theory and the one I hope they choose.

    • Just because all draft picks are a gamble doesn't mean you don't have a better chance at hitting on a better player the higher you're drafting. It would literally be like someone saying, I'll give you 1 or 2 free spins on a slot machine, and you say you'll take the 1 because you're not likely to win anything anyways with 1 or 2, so why bother? The Cowboys desperately wanted T-Mac, but because they were 4 picks behind us, they weren't able to get him.  If you told Cowboys fans that had they lost 2 more games last year in a lost season, that it would get them the player they wanted so badly, would they in retrospect go back and lose those games to get their guy? 95% of them would take that trade off in a heartbeat, and the others who wouldn't are the fans who would rather enjoy an extra win or two in a poo season to then set themselves up to be better for the next decade. I also think the fans who argue against this thinking, get too caught up in the "well that means you're going to be rooting against us late in the season even if we still have a shot at the playoffs." Which isn't true, it's saying if you're telling me right now we'd make the playoffs but lose in the first round, that I'd rather end up 8-9 or 9-8 and just miss the playoffs because in our opinion, the benefits that come along with that outweigh the benefit of the players getting 1 game of playoff experience.
    • In relation to tanking. I think you can count on one hand the number of people here who actually want us to lose football games. When accounting for it across the fanbase it amounts to maybe 2% of the entire Panthers fanbase. But you engage with some internet trolls and think haters are coming out of the woodwork and hey look at that it's all a conspiracy that leads to Bryce Young haters. Do you hear yourself sir? If it sounds ridiculous that's because it is. I mean at this point do you see Bryce haters in your dreams? As far as the culture of this franchise goes we seem to be doing better in that department via what we are building right now and with the people we have in place. But we also shouldn't just make assumptions just yet either. The rubber still needs to meet the road. And going back to previous seasons I think we can acknowledge although tanking obviously isn't a thing there were some times where we thought our culture was improving but really it wasn't. Yes I'm looking directly at some of those wins under Wilks. If the culture had truly changed we would not have lost to the Steelers who have been mediocre for years at home the way we did and they were starting Mitch Trubisky ffs. We did not change our culture for the better and we won games that ultimately meant nothing. It was just a brief mirage. We've done this for years now. The harsh truth of the matter is the Panthers have not had a winning season or been to the playoffs in going on 8 years but in those years they've been trying to convince themselves they aren't poo but in the process all they've done throughout most of that time period is squander better draft position and we were still the worst team in the league for our troubles. At the end of the day we should be able to just be adults and reconcile with that. And no that isn't being "pro tank" or any other boogeyman term it's simply recognizing reality.
    • He's an asset in a game manager role. But as soon as you have to ask him to go out there and try to make plays and not just take what the defense is giving him... well, Darnolding happens.
