Hate to say it, but it's kind of hard to call Benjamin a loser tonight without it sounding like sour grapes.

For whatever you think of him, he had an excellent game.

Yeah, that was obviously in jest and obviously embracing the sour grapes in that same vein...  it truly did ruin an otherwise encouraging game for me, simply because he took those shots at Cam, threw low blows at him, blew him off in the pregame, acted like a complete asshole, and then turned around and played like that and embarrassed our defense.  Wish he was that motivated here.  So, yes, I was steaming.

Objectively, he had a good game.

But, still, fug him, and i wish him nothing but the healthiest, worst career moving forward.

It sucks, but as long as we win, I'm not really gonna be bothered by it.

The only way it would really become relevant would be if Newton had a bad year.

I'd add Elijah Hood to the winner's list. I think CAP was running ahead of Anderson because CJ is a lock to make the roster. CAP was given an opportunity to show something and per usual, he didn't show much. Hood ran hard as hell when he had a chance, got us a gifted 1st down with a penalty because he refused to go down, and showed some soft hands to boot. Hoping to see CAP and Hood's roles reversed next week. Hood earned an opportunity to show what he can do in that spot IMO.

Most definitely. CAP is just not good enough.

Winners

Taylor Heinicke, Quarterback

Heinicke made a very good case that he should be the team’s No. 2 quarterback. To be fair, he was playing against backups, but he looked like he belonged out there. He finished the night 7-of-9 for 121 yards and a touchdown, and he looked very impressive while leading the offense. I’m looking forward to seeing him in action with the 1’s and 2’s next week against the Dolphins.

Jermaine Carter, Linebacker

Carter was all over the place tonight. His chase-down and near-sack of Josh Allen was one of several impressive plays that he made during his time on the field. He ended the night with one tackle and one sack, but his play was much better than his numbers suggest. If he can continue to play like he did tonight he’ll find himself not only on the 53-man roster, but contributing on game day.

Honestly his entire career he has. It's when you install the complex stuff he gets bad.

That's why we don't pay terrible tackles $11 million a year.

I didn't watch any of it. Just saw some clips on the Twitterverse.

Just thought it was funny lol.

Come on dawg... your point is well taken but the list of bad contracts the Saints have given out in the last 5 years alone it pretty expansive

How much did you pay Jairus Byrd for his services again?

He might not be a tackle, but it's a valid question.

Agreed, but that's why it really irritated me tonight...  as KB was playing the series of his life, Cam almost threw a pick and the offense looked very Shula-like on that first series...  meanwhile, Peterman and his 49% completion percentage was 7 for 7 and KB was eating Seymour alive.  I felt compelled to jump uo and yell, "throw in the damn towel!"  Lol.

It was just really irritating because you won't find a bigger Cam guy than me, and I just didn't want KB to win this battle, even if it was preseason...  but as you said, ultimately it won't matter when the games count.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but KB can't do that consistently and I expect him to eventually just fade out of relevance in the next few seasons...  and that's not hate, I just never think he had the work ethic, focus, or dedication to the craft, and now that he got his Superbowl win, he'll go back to the same old, same old.  And needless to say, Cam is an NFL MVP, a generational talent, and a QB who has broke multiple HOF'ers career records while changing how the game is played from the position - both as a passer and runner...  he is the ultimate weapon.  But again, it just irked me that KB got his vengeance instead of appearing as his usual unfocused, fat, lazy, and disinterested self like he did here.

    • Actually that 4400 was based on a 16 game season to match Bryce's 16 games this year. Your offense has to be to drive the ball when it matters. Bryce doesn't do that with any level of consistency. If you're building a team that isn't focused on your QB, then fine. Then there's no need to pay Bryce as a franchise QB because literally anyone else will do. If you're going to pay him 50m plus per season, you have to be able to put the team on his shoulders and know he's going to carry the load. So far, when the pressure is on to get it done, Bryce has fallen miserably short of the target. 4-6 to finish out the season and 0-2 when all we need is a win to secure a playoff spot isn't stepping up and proving yourself as a franchise QB. I'd say it's quite the opposite.  There isn't a single coach in this league that would take Bryce over Burrow and very few if any that would take Bryce over Prescott. Hurts didn't have to throw in 2025 because Philly's defense was disgusting and Saquan had a MVP season. But then again, Hurts has shown that he can when it counts, and then there's his signature. Philly runs the tush push to lethal perfection, but that's a play we can't even consider with Bryce. You used 3 QBs from teams that had no defense to show QB stats don't always matter. When we had the worst defense in the NFL, we didn't see Bryce step up and carry the offense and put up gaudy numbers in a losing season because we were playing catch up. It was pretty much the opposite.  What have we seen from Bryce consistently to consider offering him a top 10 NFL franchise QB level contract? At the end of the day, that's all that matters.
    • I mean, what fanbase has high expectations when you have a QB like Bryce leading your team?
    • If you pay Bryce $50M a year you greatly limit your ability to put the type of team around him you need to have to have a chance to win. THAT is the problem. Hell, we can't win with him on a rookie contract. How the hell are we supposed to start winning with him paying him like a franchise QB and having to make tough roster decisions to accommodate his cap hit?
