Is it time for Gauldin??

If Sercy can't finish games and Colin is his back up?? Then the excuse that Gauldin is only learning Adam's position isn't going to work..

I get it that this team doesn't care about the safety position but having Colin Jones back there with alot of playing time.. Is Malpractice..

I thought during TC Gauldin was learning both positions  back there?? If Sercy is going to be a injury prone problem.. Its time to get Gauldin back there..

Jones played a good game, was in position and got in there for a solo tackle and an assist in limited action. The guy is also a special teams captain.

Why all the hate for a second string safety on a team that performed lights out defensively and had good special teams play (except for that one extra point attempt -- not a Colin Jones play)?

I wouldn't say good.. I'd say the front 7 was able to hide him.. My point still remains.. If Sercy is going to be injury prone.. I'd rather see the rookie who has a chance to be a better player.

Maybe Gauldin can go out and get some work when we're up by 24 or so. If the game's within two TDs and we have to go to a back-up safety, I'm choosing Jones and his experience. Plus, he is nowhere near as bad as you're making him out to be. He's been a solid second stringer and role player.

Reason doesn't go far here.

The huddle knows the roster better than our coaches do.

Gaulden would be a bigger liability.  Not sure if you could make a case to change anyone’s mind.

Galuden is way better coverage player than Jones at anytime.. So the only thing Jones has going for him is experience which can easily be negated with playing time..

    • Yeah, Franklin was a good ST guy that could fill in at safety IN AN EMERGENCY. But he was still better than Scott, IMO.
    • I get that, but given his college production, his actual skill set, and what he's shown in camp, he really just seems like the only way he doesn't at least play to his floor is if he can't stay healthy or he just gets a huge head and stops putting in the effort, the latter of which I don't see happening. So hopefully he stays healthy (knock on wood), but there's unfortunately no way of predicting health, you can really only predict a player not able to stay healthy if they already had problems doing so in college.
    • In it self no it's not a bad thing. It becomes an issue when they brought back Austin to play on IR most of the season again. That's not a knock on Mays but the situation. It's BC at LG all over. But on the flip side that's how they were forced to go out and sign a good LG the next year.  All of the talk and hope of improvement comes down to guys like Mays taking that step. There is something developmentally going on that Im not impressed with going on with this team. Austin and Dalton were 2 guys they obviously can't lean on at this point and yet both are still here taking up space.
