Panthers announce Hurricane Florence relief package

After Hurricane Florence touched down in the Carolinas last week, the Panthers said in a statement that they would work to “develop a plan to best assess the needs of the region and ensure we can effectively deploy resources to those most impacted.”

The Panthers announced their initial aid package on Thursday. The foundation of owner David Tepper and the team’s charitable arm will donate $1 million to the American Red Cross’ financial assistance program designed to provide “people in shelters with stipends and gift cards to help them transition back to their lives.”

Color me not impressed.  JordanO made larger don't and isn't as large as Tepper. Two per could use thousand dollar bills to wipe his a ss with and never run out of money

I absolutely LOVE it when people have the audacity to judge how much people donate.

Please tell me what % of your income your donating?

I’m sorry, I don’t mean this to come across as a personal attack either.  But I freakin hate it when people judge the amount someone (usually higher up people) donates.  Any donation is a positive. $1 million is a huge help and trying to discredit it is ridiculous.  Even a dollar donation is better than nothing and should not be negatively viewed.

And the article even says “initial aid”, as in they very well could donate more.

But I’m sorry him donating ONE MILLION doesn’t “impress” some of you.  I wasn’t aware helping those in need was about impressing people.

Probably won't be able to donate anything as the storm shut my wife's job down for the foreseeable future and my cancer surgery which was rescheduled due to the storm will already cost us several thousand dollars and we have insurance, that is our share, and we have damage from the storm that will not be comped via homeowners for at least another grand.  So gfy.

So then why do you view him donating $1 million, which could go into helping open the job back up and helping with damage, as a negative?

My purpose of asking you that wasn’t to tell you that you should donate - I’m a college kid with nothing to offer.  There is no shame in not donating.  My point was that any donation should be appreciated, and saying a $1 million donation “doesn’t impress you” sounds stuck-up and entitled.

I wish you the best in your recovery regardless

See above Teppe rd million is less than a buck to you and me.  Does he have to give anything? No .  But if you do for God's sake be sincere as to your means.  Million to Teppe r is as sincere concern as trump in New been yes terday.

So why judge?

If you haven't noticed this isn't the only thing he gives money for. Your point would be valid if this was the sole cause he supports.

This  is where you say "Yeah, I probably jumped to conclusions" not doubling down

A million dollars is a million dollars.  You’re literally holding it against him because he’s rich.  That is illogical.

And who cares if it’s “sincere”?  If someone gives you $1 million, are you gonna not accept it because it “isn’t sincere”?

    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
    • Yeah your right the owner was copping hand shandies while all this was going down
    • I mean not surprised the Patriots took him in and aren't trying to push him out. They've been the most morally bankrupt team in the NFL for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel has his own dirt on Kraft/Brady and other assholes from that organization over the last couple decades.
