Premiere League football >>>>> All other European leagues.

And IMO for one primary reason: they decided to "broaden" their viewership to the USA many years ago and rode that wave to a whole lotta more dollars for their teams.

More $$$ = Better players.

Its science.

You got to be kidding me... All English clubs in both finals... CL and Europa... has this ever happen before when one country dominated like that.

They did not have all four but you could certainly make the argument for La Liga in 15/16

Real defeated Atleti in the CL final and Sevilla defeated Liverpool.

Barca, Athletic Bilbao, and Valencia were all knocked out of their respective competitions by other La Liga teams.  Only Villereal (who was knocked out by Liverpool in the UEL SF) was defeated by a team for another country.

I do not believe it is necessarily better but I would argue it is equally as impressive, they just got unlucky draws and were matched up together earlier.  Both are completely dominant.

Amazing to me that Pool has lost 1 game all season and will finish second.  Jeez

Man City is quite simply the best team in the world.  Yes, they seem to struggle in the CL, but the CL is a different cat than the long slog of the PL.  Over the long haul, Man City, with its depth of top-quality players two-deep at every position, is built for success.  In the CL anything can happen over a two-game series.

I've heard a lot of my fellow Pool fans complain "Oh, if we'd only did this or if we'd only not tied this team or that team we would have won!"  Well, yeah, that's true, but City have their own set of "What ifs?" as well, such as "What if Kevin De Bruyne hadn't been injured for most of the season?"

So you can nit-pick both sides, but the fact is that City is a better squad.  Are their best players better than Pool's best players?  Probably not.  BUT THEY HAVE MORE OF THEM.  Is Pep better than Klopp?  Maybe if you take track record into account.  But I absolutely think Klopp gets more out of his players than any manager in the world.  City doesn't have better players than Pool, they just have MORE OF THEM.  Frankly, I'm amazed Pool has been able to keep it this close over 37 games (to this point) taking that into consideration.

Maybe Brighton can pull off a miracle tomorrow.  That would be nice.

If you could only take 3 players from either team, I think City's 3 would be better than Liverpool's. Agree about the main difference being the depth of the squads.

Agree to disagree.

I think MC's best 3 players (when healthy) are De Bruyne, Aguero (2014-15 Golden Boot), and Sterling.

Liverpool's best 3 players are Van Dijk (2018-19 Player of the Season), Salah (2017-18 Player of the Season, 2017-18 and 2018-19 Golden Boot), and Mane (2018-19 Golden Boot).

All are absolute world-class players and any difference in total level of quality of each set of three would just be niggling.

Liverpool have a great system.  They took average players and made them great.  I think if Liverpool D sucked, the result would be very different.

And if you have great players in a great system, you can challenge the best team in the PL for the league title until Championship weekend, make two consecutive CL finals, and hopefully bring the cup home on June 1st this time.

Liverpool's D in 2017-18 *did* suck and they ended the season 3rd in the table.

    • After some of the calls last year probably won't see much of a drop off

Resisting changes that would actually incentivize good performance and not seniority based systems. What a bunch of donkeys. Hope the replacements straight up take their jobs and never give them back. Sick of watching refs script games with no repercussions.
    • Donovan seems like highest risk to me. Lloyd and May have already established relationships with all these kids. There’s probably guys hitting the portal that they recruited from HS. And then there’s the possibility of transferring their own guys from their current teams. They’ve also been recruiting the HS kids for like the next 5 years already. Look at the Iowa coach who hit the ground running by transferring all his guys from his D2 program. Or going across sports to Cignetti transferring all his JMU guys year one then building off that to a national title year 2. Donovan is starting from square one having been in the NBA so long and he’s already 60. So you’re potentially punting year 1 for a guy you are just hoping to be a 10 year hire while you figure out how to actually develop your next home grown 20yr guy. That’s 1/10th of the time you have him, more or less at best. The hope would be that he would find some high level assistants who have been working the college recruiting trails already, but then are you giving up his ideal staff just to get a foothold in recruiting and transfers. Think Belichick year one was bad? Imagine how much worse it would be without Steve Belichicks transfer portal pulls. Hoping Mays or Lloyd are all they’re cracked up to be.
