I know he can't really say what he actually believes in this situation, but come on, Kalil. This is completely on the clueless head coach.

That is straight up bullshit.  And how are our older defensive players gonna coach up the younger guys as they're constantly out of position, blowing assignments, and missing flailing arm tackles every game?  That doesn't start with players, that starts with coaches not holding players accountable which festers into a culture where mistakes are okay and "we'll get 'em next time."

Aren't we one of the oldest teams in the league? What younger guys need to be coached up by older players? Funchess? Is that it? And why is it up to the older players to coach them anyway? Are the coaches not doing their job? Why is there a lack of discipline? Isn't that the coaches job to install on the team?

All they said basically still points to a coaching problem.

It's funny because it's the older guys who have played like crap this year.

The only people defending Ron are "his boys."

I can't wait for all of this cronyism to end.

Browns have been a better team sans Hue.

Look at the difference in the Bucs defensive play since firing Smith.

Look at the Cards offense since firing McCoy.

It makes a difference.

Browns situation is different considering it seemed they were only a couple games away from an outright mutiny between the players and Hue. Both the Cards offense and Bucs defense were either dead last in the league or damn close so its no real surprised after a firing they have slightly improved.

dont get me wrong, I think Rivera should have been fired a LONG time ago but doing it midseason might as well be waving a white flag. we'll still get blown up by the Saints twice and probably lose to the Falcons as well.

I'm just saying....  as you said, the situations are different. In most cases, i believe waiting until the season is over is the more professional, prudent way to handle it.  But, i picture a coach like McCarthy or Harbaugh getting that benefit.  They've earned that.  Half of the fanbase has wanted Ron gone even before 2015 because we believed he had showed enough ineptitude to merit it...  So, this has been festering, and then the last 4 games were just icing on the cake.

He knows he's done.

I honestly hope Tepper goes ahead and pulls the plug. We know it's coming. What's the point in waiting? What are we gonna do, lose some games? LOL! We're already doing that.

Make this a thread.  Let's just get it all out of the way.  It's 5 years overdue IMO.

my point being i dont think firing Rivera makes a difference on this teams trajectory and as long as we have a new HC (and preferably new GM) going into next season i'll be happy

My "stories" are straight.  I don't have to bump it, I just accurately summarized it.  And I was just revisiting it because I stated Tomlin was a far superior coach, you argued they were comparable, and then a few weeks later Tomlin beat the absolute dog poo out of us lol.

That being said, I appreciate you owning it, but I only brought it up because up until this reply, i hadn't saw you state anywhere that you wanted Ron gone.  In fact, judging from the tone of your posts, which were almost always defending Ron, I assumed you thought he was a good coach and that you wanted him here...  so, this reply was illuminating for me.

I agree, waiting until the end of the season is the respectable, classy, and reasonable thing to do.  It's what most franchises do...  but this has been a festering problem for years, and requires immediate action.  I would usually cast my vote for waiting until the end of the season, but Ron's had enough time and undue goodwill cast his way.  He's a few years overdue for his walking papers.

First off, it was months. And second, I never ever said Rivera was better. I compared records and asked why Rivera was such a better option with very comparable numbers. Since I’ve been a Steeler fan for my entire life, I always hear the same complaints about Tomlin.

And IDGAF if you appreciate anything.

Lol, juvenile.  People are internet dweebs with no life for wanting Ron gone after years wasted, yet you consistently keep getting in your feelings taking up your shield for Ron's honor.  Irony so thick, it could make Beyonce jealous.

I don’t care about Ron leaving. Said so before this fiasco. Not stomping my feet and demanding Tepper double tap him in the back of the head is being human. It sure would be nice if some of you coached or even played. This wouldn’t even be a discussion. Letting a staff go is a rough sight to see. Excuse me for having a shred of empathy for him on his way out the door.

As long as we don’t treat players that way right?

You can figure about 6 head coaches will get the ax after the season.  When we start interviewing potential head coaches, keep in mind that any candidate who is worth a poo will most likely be interviewed by multiple teams.  And may have multiple offers.  They will be interviewing Panthers management as much as the Panthers are interviewing them.  It would suck to have a great coach turn us down for an interview or a job offer because he cant forget  about the shoddy treatment given to the last head coach who was fired in season.
