That’s a fair question so here is my answer. We haven’t been blown out in any of our recent losses. None of the last 4 by more than a touchdown.

Look at who we've played though.

The Lions (5-8)

The Bucs (also 5-8)

And the Browns (5-7-1)

Only one of the teams that beat us had a winning record.

There's not a lot to be proud of, here.

None of these teams are dire. Bucs and lions beat NO and NE respectively this season. Point is it’s always possible to see the glass half empty if you try hard enough. It’s not like we lost to the Raiders and 49ers. We could easily  have won all those games despite playing hilariously badly. In that alternate universe the huddle is crowing and talking up our SB chances instead of moping in self pity. I mean it’s been very disappointing lately but come on.

But we didn't beat them, did we?

Nobody is really worried about whether we "could have won". They're upset because we lost to a group of losing teams.

The more I think about it, though, those teams are all genuinely better teams than we are, their success over us notwithstanding

The reason for the record is because every team in our division drafted guys to beat us after we went to the SB.  It takes time to answer their draft picks.  MAC was a start.  Also, remember Atlanta sacrificed a lot to get Julio.

Due to our historically bad defense and putrid offense, though (save 4-5 playmakers) we’re about three years away from being two years away.

So what you’re saying is it’s ok to over-react to losing to middle of the road teams despite the fact that almost every team in the league is doing it?

Maybe what I’m saying is people should put losses in their proper context. If all you care about is the result I pity your enjoyment watching your team. It must be truly miserable.

Are you genuinely trying to tell me that being upset about a five game losing streak is "overreacting"?

Teams that are 5-8 are not "middle of the road".  They're bad.

If you're okay with watching the team play, even if they lose, cool.  That'd be a really small percentage of sports fans.

And that guy who just spent over 2 billion to buy the team and then declared that the top three things he cared about were "winning, winning and winning", I don't think he's one of them.

It’s perfectly fine to be upset. I can tell you I feel frustrated too.

No. 1-3 win teams are bad. Or a team missing a key figure like a QB. Even teams that most people would class as good lose to middling teams.

Yes Tepper wants to win. And? You expect an owner to say he wants to lose? If he’s so intolerant of losing why is RR still in charge? Maybe DT understands that knee-jerk reactions are the response of those who aren’t in control of their own reactions.

That's the thing though.

How many 2 time coach of the year, 1 time NFL MVP, and 1 time DPOY led teams are losing to the Lions and Bucs?  Much less 5 mediocre teams in a row?

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
