Luke Kuechly deserves keys to the city

The main thing the game last night proved is that Luke cannot make a bad DC look good.  But give Luke a decent DC, and he will make your defense look amazing.  Luke with a decent DC and looking like he's past his concussion issues is back on course to retire as the GOAT.  Enjoy watching this man play, you'll tell your kids and grand kids about it.

i fuging love luke but it's amazing to see everyone unanimously offering him the keys to the city when he finally has a great game and half the fanbase calling for cam to be traded or cut when he has a bad one

You are correct but he has had multiple good games this year some games he was the only one giving 100 percent effort although the play call and execution/gap assignments of everyone else was in the trash. We had bad results on defense due to our rookie D coordinator. Has it not been completly obvious when Ron took the D back over? With all this going on all year, Luke was still second in tackles for loss only behind Donald for the Rams, 124 tackles an interception, 2 forced fumbles with 2 games to go in the season. I’ll take those results all year every year from a middle linebacker in today’s NFL. Fans talking garbage all year really do not watch the games they just claim everyone on the team should be fired/traded when we don’t win.

lol fans have watched cam spend the better part of the decade watching cam care too much and hurl his body headlong into linebackers and safeties and some of them say luke is the only one giving 100 percent effort.

even in cam's mvp year no one started threads like this and luke gets one after one good game.

really makes u think

I was talking about effort on defense throughout the season. I am a firm believer that Cam is the best when we have ever had and that we will be our Qb playing at a very high level for years to come once his shoulder heals up as stated in many other treads. Anyone who questions cams toughness is an idiot.

I think it is plausible that the not-so-good Luke was a result of Washington being the worst DC in the league.

Norv is pretty good and our playbook is limited because Cam is throwing on a bum shoulder.

maybe that has something to do with it?

This thread was created to appreciate a dominate performance by Luke not to bash Cam or take away from what he has done for the franchise. We should appreciate that performance and others noticed it as well

Luke looked confused all year long.... UNTIL RR started calling the defensive plays. You wanna know how bad a DC can make a defense? You limit and befuddle one of the best ever with stupid calls.

You can tell Luke is clicking mentally with the calls and he’s in full attack mode. We really screwed this season with a Washington.

You all better kiss Luke goodbye. For all the talk that Cam is getting old and damaged...Luke is right in that same conversation. He's not a young guy anymore, has a history of..well, we wont mention it. He also has a big contract ending in the next few years. As good and great as he is, we all know we wont be drafting LB help to compliment him anytime soon. Ol' head will retire.  We will waste 2 seasons tying to once again have a nice LB core...and then BOOM....time for 59 to join the broadcast booth and TD on the golf course.

    • In May of 2026, it looks like a challenging schedule...and it probably is.  I rarely listen to the "strength of schedule" conversations that light up social media this time of year. Each year teams improve and decline. I think there's chunks of the year we need to take care of business and the week 5 bye is not desired.  I do think if we don't hit the bye week at 3-1, it's going to be a major uphill battle given the schedule in front of us. This season falls on three people, regardless of schedule strength: Canales, Bryce, Evero.  Canales: Finally can truly coach all aspects of the team and not focus with gameday prep for OC duties anymore. He drives the bus and needs to get these guys in position to win each week. There's no way vets come in and put it on the line every week to watch our QB sh!t the bed (See: SF game last year). Bryce: Despite everyone's obsession with thinking Bryce is a guaranteed extension, I think this year will truly be his "prove it" year. If he comes out the way he has the past three years, I really don't see how vets and coaches can continue to put him under center long-term. He might play out that fifth year as the starter, but I think next offseason his long-term replacement is found. I also think there's no excuses with the weapons and commitment we've made on offense to insulate him with every possible weapon.  Evero: Best personnel he's had since he's been here...no excuses. Figure out how to blitz effectively. Figure out how to use CBs whose strengths are press/man. Figure out how to utilize a talented front-7 to get the hell of the field. Outside of FS and maybe....maybe ILB, there are few weaknesses on this unit.
    • Canales can never get his teams ready in the first week of the season so far. Hope that changes or Ben Johnson is going to take his azz to school.
