The Cam Newton Era is not even remotely over and you should feel bad if you think it is

Cam has access to the finest doctors and surgeons in the world, experts in sports medicine, and they can't tell him what's wrong with shoulder.  Isn't that a bit concerning?  That to this point there isn't a doctor that can even diagnose a problem?  Cam says he's tried everything and it's just sore.  Probably the scariest thing to me is that this isn't an injury, it's just an aging body that doesn't consistently hold up to NFL punishment anymore.  Not everyone is built the same way, just the facts.

It's repeated overuse and strain. Giving the guy a break would do wonders.

Why you crying like a child? Calling a spade a spade isn't verbal assault. And plenty of people in here (including you) have said worse

Show me where i quoted a person and laid a specific insult. The guy stated an opinion. Whether that is a "spade" opinion, or not..it is his opinion. You however pooed all over his opinion not with evidence or logic...but with insult. Unpopular opinions are not against forum rules. Personal insults ARE. And yes I will cry like a child because i see a huge double standard here.

Where is the overuse and over strain? Giving him a break? Doesn't he already get extra days off in the week, because as Ron said early in the season "This is the new norm for Cam"? How much more rest does an NFL QB need?

I was in denial about his shoulder and just chalked it up to small injury but he’s hurt bad. Dude needed to go to IR right after the Steelers game and get surgery that next week. We can’t afford to not have him ready to go week 1 of 2019

Yep

This organization continues to butcher the managing of Cam in every aspect there is imaginable.

Pretty damn frustrating as a fan of this organization to be gifted a QB like Cam only to see them completely waste him.

Hi,

I have no formal knowledge of muscles, ligaments and tendons so I am going to "ass crack" an assumption that Cam can "tough this one out". Although I graduated with an ITT Tech/Phoenix Master's degree, I am Mr. Internet with unlimited knowledge. Forget the fact that a $100 million dollar athlete revealed he has seen every specialist he can think of and even resorted to Chinese Medicine in acupuncture yet can be out thrown by a 12 year old in a Punt/Pass/Kick competition I am certain with my infinite Wisdom that his "grit" will come through.

I love Cam, he was a great Panther but at this time he is a liability on the books, his body has betrayed him and you can keep clinging on to your hocus pocus analogies

Please stop posting. You should be ashamed at what you've become haha

If the injury is not getting better or worse then he just needs rest and no surgery.  It's like picking a scab every time the wound tries to heal. Just let it heal and it'll be better.  If the shoulder was getting worse then it would be a major concern.  I feel ok that Cam will be back and hopefully we don't make the post season

I wanted to re-visit the "you should feel bad" part of the thread.

Anyone with sense knows that we have to HOPE the Cam Newton era isn't over.  That said, if you are a GM of an NFL franchise, you can't stick your fingers in your ears and drown out the outside world.

Cam is telling you he's hurt, the docs can't figure out what's wrong with the throwing shoulder, you have Cam under contract at a very good price (if healthy or rehabbing) for two more years.  At the end of the day, like I said, you have to hope Cam get's back to himself, but you damn better have a plan if he doesn't.

I am planning on Cam coming back to at least close to his old self, but I'd also be lying if I said I'm not concerned.

The Browns are on the upswing, we have plateaued and are now on a downward trajectory, clinging on to old relics and waiting on #89, Gross, Gamble, Hardy to come out of retirement to save us

Disagree

we have a new owner, we don’t know what he’ll do and that’s the Panthers biggest upside right now

we have cornerstones, Luke, Moton, Turner, Jackson, Moore, CMC.

not going to lie though the fact we need such important positions like a qb, pass rush and LT is discouraging.

but again let’s see what tepper does. I’d call the raiders the new browns

If it’s not getting better or worse and there is no fix I’d rather move on. Scans eventually heal, will this? He can’t throw 15 yards right now. So we just hope he doesn’t get sore after a long game or seasons going into the playoffs? That’s not going to win anything, especially when he’s not a dual threat like he was anymore.

seems to me if there no fix we can look forward to this every year and I’d rather not

IMO, you cannot move on from Cam at this point.

We have him under contract for two more seasons, and while the number is high for a player re-habbing, it's not back breaking.

That said, under no circumstances should we be talking with Cam about an extension at this point.  We must see if he can go back to even close to what he was before we can talk about more money.

And.....that's where Marty scares the pants off of me.  He has a history of paying players for things that are in the rearview.
