He's 155 Rec yards away from a 1000. He couldve easily picked up a major gash against the soft zone there on the last drive and put himself in better striking distance next week but Rivera can't even give him/us that.

Norv forgot he was on the team once again as Heinicke threw 50 passes.

i was thinking about that as well. That killed his chance at 1000 and 1000

he's a good player but you're not winning a super bowl running your offense through him. he's been most productive in losses, actually. there's a reason why he's open so often for check downs. despite his ability in space defenses are still willing to give the offense those underneath throws to him in order to limit the passing game downfield. 8 yards per catch on that volume isn't scaring defenses. mccaffrey ranks around 125th in the league there. "but google jim bob cooter! he's a running back! you can't compare his numbers to receivers!" you can when he's the focal point of your passing game. you're absolutely limiting your offense by designing the whole fuging thing around him. it's why he has to be on the field every single play. it's a problem.

Brave double-down post, sir!

Yeah, maybe that's why our offense has stalled. McCaffrey can't be the best player on the offense, and that offense be good.

He's a big reason the team won 6 of its first 8 as well. Let's not forget that he had close to 1000 yards from scrimmage at the half way mark. He was a big part of the passing game last season when the team won 11 games.

lol this has everything to do with opposing team's utter lack of fear that we were going to beat them deep.

The only games we've even been n have been McCaffrey's best games and other players have consistently left points on the board/given up huge defensive plays on the back end

This is a terrible, terrible argument

seems to me that they had more respect for our injured quarterback's ability to beat them deep than they had for mccaffrey to beat them on YAC-dependent catches

Are you suggesting that the only way a team would show respect is by doubling a RB that is often blocking, running delayed routes, or being used a decoy? I don't get what you think teams do against true pass-catching RB threats?

he's a fine player but our offensive success tracks much more closely to our mvp quarterback's impact than mccaffrey's performance. mccaffrey has been more productive in losses. the offense tanked right around the time cam took that shot from watt against pittsburgh

QB play having a stronger correlation to winning than RB play? Novel idea and argument!

So wierd.  Guess this is what losses do.  Folks get confused.

CMC is not the problem.  The problem was protection, throwing the ball more than 10 yards past the line of scrimmage, and a defense that can't stop anyone.

CMC is one of the bright young stars in the NFL.  This season has been a real turd lately.

Let's get Cam healthy, get some offensive line help, and improve the defense.  CMC is a big piece of our future.

this isn't reality. Teams loading the box disrupts the short passing game, especially the Texas and pivots that he runs so well

teams are not scared that we are going to beat them over the top and have played as such. To suggest otherwise is fantasyland tier.
