How long does CMC last under a Rivera/Hurney regime

Heard the guys talking about this on WFNZ this morning. A lot of people think CMC won’t last 2-3 more years if he continues to carry the kind of workload he had this year. Others say getting rid of CJ wasn’t a big deal because CMC can handle it... which side are you on?

He did this for all 3 years in college so this is typical for him to touch the ball multiple times. After all he broke Barry Sanders all purpose yard record. On the other hand injuries happen sooner or later so he could only be around for 2 or 3 years more. It won't be because of how he is being used. He wants the ball on every down.

It isn't even about just risking him to injury, it's about versatility in your offense. Look at the Rams, Chiefs, and even the Patriots running the ball down teams throats with versatility. They aren't trying to run the offense through only one player though. Ya'll wanna celebrate all purpose yards in a losing season, yeah it's great, but guess what? Still no back to back winning seasons, and we tumbled to the bottom of the division in the process. How is this a good thing? I get trying to find a silver lining, but for a fanbase that in the past has constantly cried about not getting respect, you should all be able to see this. Especially the fans giving people poo for calling out Ron Rivera's mismanagement.

      I do think the rating is fair given how this unit hasn’t proven it with production. I understand you have to rank off production, not potential. However, our unit is also in a position to make this rating look foolish a year from now. We have 4 guys in the WR/TE room who all could legitimately take the next step this year, and catapult our rank. A guy under a lot of people’s radar after we took Tet, Jalen Coker. Mark my words, he will become the star of this room, and be the heir to Thielen.

      Exactly. You’d think 2-7 wins a year (in a 17 game season no less) since 2017 is going to keep us bottom tier. Every year we say the same poo like we haven’t been a bad team the past 7 years. Until we prove we aren’t a bottom dweller, that’s where we’ll stay ranked. God forbid we have OL injuries like 2016.

      What I love and hate about this team is it’s more filled with potential breakout players than ever before. JT, XL, Coker, Smith-Wade, Ikem, Trevin… and even Bryce are all guys I could legitimately see taking the next step. But the problem with having so many of those guys is that team success somewhat relies on them taking that step, and some are bound not to. That being said, I’m cautiously optimistic given our softer schedule, the way the offense clicked late last year, and the direction we finally have at GM, coach, and QB. Could see us as a sneaky playoff team.
