Shaq just might be a beast in a 3-4, fast for a DL/LB...teach him some Von Miller type moves and I think he eats all day

And he will still be 4 inches shorter and 40 pounds lighter than Von Miller .. And he would get "eaten" trying to play that position..

Really proof

Seek it out if you wish to find it; it's the reality of what these teams did.

Patriots just went from a 3-4 to 4-3, Bears just went from a 3-4 with Fox to a 4-3 Hybrid with Nagy.  Chargers did the same with Lynn.  Rams just went from a Base 4-3 to a Wade Philips D.

You said it happened now I have to research your statement?? Smh Really..

But now that you went into details I know none of your examples were easy..

Pat's have been playing a hybrid of both for years now..So have the Chargers ..

The Rams have been making this transition since 2017 and still aren't a top level defense..

And I have to research the Bears??  I guess.. but wait..

This is a 3/4 they are playing and lining up alot in a 3/4 base defense.. WTF are you talking about.. So no the Bears didn't switch from a 3/4 they still play it..

Open to a discussion so hold with the defensiveness.

First, I'll own the Patriots began their 4-3 transition earlier than I said but the rest were all within the last 2 seasons; again we're talking about the scheme transition.  Also, don't forget: this is not a black and white thing.  Virtually every team shows looks of both in some capacity and nickel is run so much anyways that everything is a mosaic of sorts.

Regarding the examples:

The Chargers legitimately went to a base 4-3 last season.  This was their second season with the multi-front look.  Lynn and Bradley even had a whole media cycle during the implementation:

http://www.espn.com/blog/san-diego-chargers/post/_/id/19529/chargers-dc-gus-bradley-says-defense-will-convert-to-4-3-scheme

With the Bears: Fangio has a distinct defensive style.  At it's core it's sure technically a 30 front which has the bulk of 3-4 looks but he made notable changes when Nagy came in.  He basically will have the EDGE (Mack) go hands in the dirt for a non-personnel hybrid front.  It's interchangeable snap to snap.
--

Now not to detract from the point at hand: People are questioning how quick a team can transition with scheme changes.  That happened with all of those team's mentioned in varying timeframes but they show it doesn't take long.

Here's actually a great article explaining the blurring of lines between these schemes and the Rams scheme transition last season:

Take a gander and I'm not trying to talk you down here. Schemes change and it's not as simple as saying 3-4 to a 4-3 or vice versa.  It's coaching and personnel dependent.

But my original point stands.. It takes time for the transition and most of the teams that do it successfully go with a hybrid approach..

I hear the arguments against the change, but imo, 3-4 is the way the nfl is going as there is more available talent coming from college like that and speed and athleticism is hyper valued as the rules have changed to hinder contact now.  If in this offseason (one where there will be a massive amount of turnover on the defensive side of the ball) we dont do it, we may not have another opportunity due to personell for atleast 5 more years.  Let's get it done.

I think Poe would be fine in that role, in fact, I think the 2 years he was a pro bowler in KC, he was a NT in a 3-4. As for the OLB, this is where drafting comes into play, and this draft is deep.  Also, I think part of the idea is addison and haynes OLB and that's considering we still have Jermaine carter and andre smith.  I think if we go into it looking for 3-4 personell, we can easily fill the needs.

Luke and Shaq would be good inside linebackers in the 3-4 but where you getting the other two?

We can easily draft a OLB and pick up one in FA. We can run a 3-4 this year. Problem is do we have the coaches who know how the 3-4 scheme works? Ron has been a 4-3 for his entire career.

Ron had the #1 defense in the NFL as the DC for San Diego  when they ran a 3-4
