Jason Witten "unretiring"

Mine was the opposite. Nice, Greg is retiring. Love Greg, but I think he's done as an effective NFL player but I know Rivera would play him over the much younger and at this point more effective Ian Thomas as long as Olsen's foot was held together by that duct tape and bailing wire.

I feel we have cut more than enough of the "old" fat that was holding the team back.  In fact, I feel we might have cut too much, but my hope is that it will result in a radical turnaround.  Because I have complained for years about that being one of the shortcomings of our organization and specifically Ron and Co. - he prioritized loyalty and experience over results and potential.  So, at least we have finally taken a step in the right direction when it comes to that.

That being said, I still think TD or Pep were valuable in this transition in specific roles.  Captain and Adams should've happened last year.  Kalil needs to happen.

As far as Greg...  I'm excited about Ian, but if Greg is healthy, even at 34, he is one if the best TEs in the game.  Now if you pair him with Ian, man...  that's scary.  I say you keep him as long as he's willing to play, with the only caveat being, if that foot breaks again, hes done.  But, from the interview I read that he did earlier in the offseason, he had the foot reinforced with grafts, IIRC, and I want to say that he said it was the same procedure Kevin Durant had done, and he hasn't had any reoccurring issues since.  So, I think it's worth keeping him and will pay off big for us.

Panthers’ source says he’d be “shocked” if Greg Olsen doesn’t play this season.

The Witten news threw the spotlight on Panther TE Greg Olsen. The Panthers expect him to play in 2019. But could this be an opportunity too good to pass up? @josephperson on that and more from the combine in Indy: …

Yes, because he's holding us back.

Lmao

No, because the idea that anybody "deserves" to take up current salary cap money because they've been good in the past or they've been with us for a long time is emotional, not logical.

Smart teams know that you pay players based on what they're going to do this year, not what they did last year or five years ago.

Allowing sentiment and emotion to affect your roster decisions is how you end up with contracts like the Jake Delhomme extension, and rosters that aren't good enough to win championships.

Does anybody NOT want Olsen back with Carolina next year ?

Does anybody actually believe we would be better off without him?

C'mon

u f*ckers argue for the sake of arguing.

A healthy Greg Olsen? Sure.

Unfortunately, that particular animal hasn't existed for a couple of years. And paying a guy a full season's salary for a partial season of contributions for the third year in a row isn't exactly good roster management.

Just saw it in an alert from NFL.com. He's reportedly agreed to terms with the Cowboys.

That means there's an opening in the Monday Night Football booth.

Cant hate on him for it, hes always loved the game and he can still play with his style.
