Gronk retires

Three other AFC East fanbases just cheered. The guy was a monster on the field and had a ball off the field, too. Good luck to him.

And yeah, HoF is where he'll be. Nine years is a pretty long career for a pro football player, and his game tape, stats and rings will seal the deal.

Gronk doing something...smart?  Wow

But seriously, congrats to the GOAT TE and thank goodness he's done now.

Right on. The guy’s a sophomoric dunce who gets away with dumb poo like his “69” routine he pulled not once but TWICE on female reporters simply because he’s labeled just a “big kid” and a “frat boy” by the fawning media. Meanwhile, Cam gets roasted for being caught off guard by a good question from Jourdan Rodrique. Sure, he is/was a great player, but he’s also a big, dumb asshole.

In the playoffs, Gronk took over games late. In the biggest moments, when Brady had to have a completion, it was going to Gronk. He was such a physical presence on the field.

It might take a bit for the New England offense to adjust. I have no doubt Bilicheck and McDaniels will do it, and they're no stranger to slow starts anyway. I still don't see anyone in the AFC East able to hang with them. Miami's moves this offseason tell you they are already thinking about Tua. Buffalo and New York are still developing their QBs.

What would be the advantage for us to trade Olsen for a late round pick?

Getting rid of a worthless extension taking cap space that should have never happened in the first place.

But I agree I mean at this point might as well just chalk it up as a loss.

Except that's not the case at all. Greg would cost us an additional $700k against the cap this year if he's not on the roster. It's literally cheaper in cap terms to keep him.

Do you really believe Olsen is going to finish a full season this year?

Probably not, but see my above post. There's no advantage to trading him.

I'd rather have Olsen on the roster for as long as he lasts and as a mentor to Thomas than a late round pick and an additional $700k cap hit. If we could get legit trade compensation and/or legit cap relief I might feel differently.

Fair enough.

I would definitely listen to offers though

    • OL then RB would make heads explode but its might not be too unlikely
    • Wonder if we draft a RB. Seems like a lot of eggs in Brooks’ basket right now.  And the OL, no kidding. If that running game goes to hell with what we have at QB, you can forget competing. It is so much more important than sticking another wideout on the field. Take your wideout later.
    • I have lots of different thoughts on it. This argument, the primary thing is I don’t like seeing him or anyone, being convicted on hearsay and/or pure speculation. Which some are doing.  I don’t care That much about defending Morgan as I do about the criticism being fair minded.    You sort of assert that Dan was just a yes man. I don’t think we know if he ever pushed back against Fitterer but I have this instinct thing that needs me to satisfy the question of: if Tepper was so down on a Fitterer as to fire him, why in the world would he hire his carbon copy? I guess maybe he wanted a yes man.Like I said, lots of different thoughts.     I am just not gonna judge him that harshly based only on speculation. I am sticking with what he has done starting when he was hired as GM. Maybe I am more lenient because the first season for him and Canales, I gave both a pass. Said I would judge them after the first year. Stuck to it. If you can get to the reality that neither were ready for the job and say okay give them a year get their feet wet, it looks a lot better.    And we are not bound to Bryce yet. Yes, for yet another fuging year he can probably marginally improve and slide by like he has been doing. But if they add even more people and he regresses? I think we could see some relief.    The QB room? As I understand it, Pickett was Canales’ choice. If we need to blame people for poo. In a sense, he is very Bryce like. So makes a good plug in. I get that a little bit. We still have the draft. If they do better than Jake Plummer or Hooker I’ll know they are trying.
