Week 1 Summary

I love Cam, but I'm legitimately concerned...  some bad throws at the absolute worst times, but I'm hoping that was rust from not playing the preseason...  but it looked bad.  But, I honestly don't even care about the miss on the overthrow to Samuel deep after the Bradberry pick, or the subsequent INT...  as bad as those were, we never should've been in that position.

The coaching was absolute dogshit today.  The offense, inexplicably, looked like Norv driving 25 mph on the Audubon for the majority of the game.  Four total timeouts blown across two halves, poor offensive playcalling for the majority of the game, no rhythm, mistimed plays, no urgency to get to fumbles by the defense (or DJ Moore), shitty officiating against us per usual, and seemingly no adjustments made across halves.

Same Ron Different Day.  Tired of his poo...  we looked completely unprepared.

He completed 65% of his passes today which doesn’t count the passes that he had to throw away because of pressure or the Olsen drop.

Came out of the gate perfect until Moore fumbled. He missed a few throws where the timing was just off. It’s the first game of the season that’s expected.

What y’all should be concerned about is the offensive line not holding up.

This was a preseason game but just one that counted. Im ok with the outcome. Honestly did we really expect to beat a SB runner up. Our defense played good enough. Offense just looked like crap first half and we couldnt turn the corner. We clean up those mistakes we wouldve won this game and the thread been alot different. We gave up 10 points. Alot of teams wouldnt even comeback from that. We almost did.

I am.  I didn't say Cam was at fault.  I actually inferred that despite the mistakes, he WASN'T at fault or the problem...  I told a friend who asked how he looked prior to the 4th that he looked good, but it felt like Norv was holding him back for some reason.  That offense was incredibly frustrating to watch.  There just wasn't any rhythm in the playcalling.  And tbh, the OL could've done a lot worse against that defense and Donald.  I really feel like the entirety of this loss falls at the feet of Rivera, again.

Goff didn’t play a snap in the preseason and looked sharp. Matter of fact none of their starters played a snap and for the most part they looked legit. Like Ron said... rust isn’t an excuse

Goff looked shitty though.

Golly, sounds like the same old poo Ron Rivera squads have been dialing up since 2012.  I’m honestly shocked that anyone still believes its ever gonna change.

You think Goff looked sharp today?

It's not that I expect Ron to change, it's that I hoped the influx of offensive weapons would eventually override his ineptitude.

What’s your definition of shitty. He hit the throws he needed to hit. Carolina cut it to one score and he led his team to a td. Looked a lot better than Cam

How he played is my definition of shitty. The were running all over the Panthers, setting up the pass. The guy had all day to make throws to very good wide receivers, but had trouble.

And to be clear, y'all know I always have been and always will be a Cam guy...  one of the biggest.  He is not the problem.  I don't want this to be misconstrued in any way.  I just said I was concerned because of the way the offense was called and the timing of some of the mistakes was troublesome, but the greater and more frustrating problem was the coaching that led to those mistakes.  But, the playcalling and the mistakes still has me concerned about his health.  I really hope he comes out and kills it Thursday and alleviates that worry.

    • Per Bill Barnwell  Broncos part ways with a CB on the roster bubble Broncos get: 2026 seventh-round pick Panthers get: CB Damarri Mathis The Broncos have a rare problem among NFL teams: too many cornerbacks. ESPN's Jeff Legwold projects they could move on from Mathis, who was very good as a rookie in 2022 before losing his starting job after the defense's slow start in 2023. He played just 27 defensive snaps after Week 6 that season and 80 more across 10 games in 2024. With the Broncos using their 2025 first-round pick on cornerback Jahdae Barron, they could justify moving on from Mathis, who might not be active on game days even if he sticks around. Mathis' best season came with defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero in Denver, and he hasn't been able to reach those same heights since Evero left for Carolina. The Panthers are set with Jaycee Horn, Mike Jackson and nickel corner Chau Smith-Wade as their three starting corners, but Mathis could push the 28-year-old Jackson and serve as Carolina's primary reserve on the outside. Mathis is owed $3.4 million in 2025, so Denver might essentially buy a draft pick by eating some of that cash, similar to what the Commanders did when they sent running back Brian Robinson Jr. to the 49ers.
    • They can get fuged for a 6th and 7th. Doesn't make sense for us for anything less than a 4th and them paying a majority of his salary.
