Something is not right in Carolina and it goes beyond Cam Newton

What i find weird is, RR defended Williams for his crummy play saying something it’s tough seeing that and he needs help. I know it doesn’t do any good, but has he said anything like that for cam before? I mean that guy has had the snot knocked out him and he has put his body on the line to win games and RR never says that stuff. It may be nothing, but I just found it odd.

While all of this sounds wonderful, it's not reality.  Go watch the tape.  We cannot man up against our opponents, we get blown off the ball.  Norv loves a fullback, we all know this.  The reason he isn't using one is because he realizes it's futile.  Norv is adjusting what he calls to the reality of the players on the field.

Our O Line is shaky at best, which means you're going to have to run using misdirection.  You're going to have to throw with a multi-tiered approach that allows for a quick pass when the protection isn't there.

The bottom line remains that Cam has to be able to beat teams with his arm.  I would love to think we will see that.  As a fan of this team everyone should be on board with that hope.  However, the early returns are that Cam just isn't right any longer.  The off season narrative out of the organization is "Cam is healthy, his shoulder is right, no excuses".  Well, if this is right, Cam is done.

He'll get another 8 or so games to show us that these first two games were just rust.  I HOPE HE DOES IT.  But an entire year of this and I would expect that Cam along with Ron will be out the door next January.  End of an era.

Sooo isn’t that what they tried to do Thursday night....and perhaps the OL doesn’t have to be shaky if the right combo is out there and that doesn’t necessarily involve Paradis either

Excellent piece by Jourdan Rodrigue on The Athletic.

Subscription only, but here’s a taste:

“But the ball used to go to Newton when a miracle was needed. Will he still be asked for miracles? Is it still fair of us to ask him for miracles?

Thursday night, the ball did not go into the hands of Newton, the most transformative player in franchise history, with the game and a losing streak on the line, because something isn’t right, and that “something” looms vastly into this team’s universe, loathsome and fearful, and unsaid.

The call instead went to McCaffrey on fourth down, with one yard to gain, and the game on the line, and the play failed because, though it was cleverly-designed and perhaps called because it was unexpected, something about it didn’t feel right to Buccaneers cornerback Vernon Hargreaves...

There is a feeling permeating through the building; listen closely to Thursday night’s damp concrete walls and sparse, angry crowds and down-turned mouths and walk silently through the bunker-like belly of the building from terse press conference to tense, bewildered locker room and it’s there, creeping and insidious.”

Yes, simple... It's called a LOSING STREAK. When fans have had a taste of success as our franchise has given them at times, it leads to high off-season expectations. EVERYONE thought we would be at least 1-1 at this point, and there is no reason why we should not be. It's not just the fact that we are 0-2, it's the way we became 0-2. This is a team that ON PAPER should be a playoff caliber team and that's what we as fans were all expecting. When you are 2 yards away from being 1-1 and it seems like you are snake bitten no matter what you try then the teams psyche has been shot full of holes. That is what we are seeing, a team that has a lot of big potential, but one that hasn't had a REAL win in quite a while. That amount of losing, particularly close games, just wrecks a teams confidence and pride, "Keep Pounding" isn't having that same reverberation that it once did. Panthers need to focus on getting just ONE win right now and build on that. They have to find a way to get out of this losing vibe, we need guys to be flying all over the field, creating turnovers, turning a 6 yard quick slant into a 65 yard TD, getting 6+ sacks in a game, corners jumping routes for int's, Cam breaking loose on a designed roll out for 35 yards, offense producing TD's ALONG with FG's 5 of their first 6 drives... Stuff like that. The Panthers have to get back to playing Panthers football! It's an odd numbered year, so "ice up" boys! Veterans, find your grit, go out against the Cardinals, fight and claw and get ONE win! Cam Newton... Find a telephone booth, after you change, drop it on the Cardinals defense heads while they are in the huddle!

I’m glad you made this thread because I have something to say on the subject. But watching this team play legit depresses me, and I’m not saying that in a funny way like “omg this team sucks it’s so depressing!”

But watching this team is like going to a concert of your favorite rock band who obviously should have hung it up years ago but they are out there on stage looking rough and haggard, there big bellies hanging over their leather jeans and getting out of breath after one of two songs, it’s just plain depressing.

Thats what watching the current Panthers remind me of, everyone from the coaches to the players just look like abunch of guys that absolutely  hate their jobs and can’t wait to just go home and get paid.

No energy, no excitement, down trodden faces, poor body language. This is just a legitimately depressing team to watch and after the game is over it feels more like I just finished watching Schindler’s list and not a football game. I just feel depressed and empty afterward

Great summary... What makes it even worse is that they have the talent to be a playoff team easily! :-(
