A healthy Cam or CMC who do you resign?

After much thought...I think this is the crux of the issue. If Cam is healthy and we want to retain him hes gonna cost us a ton of jack. CMC who in my mind is the best player in the game is going to command the richest salary of any RB in history. I feel we can only afford to retain one of them. That is, if you consider the percentage of cap space signing both will eat up.

I think you've gotta go McCaffrey here.

If there is anything that this Kyle Allen debate has shown us...its that we can win a lot of games having a guy that can manage the game and let CMC do his thing.

Now if Cam was 26 we may be having a different conversation.

What do you guys think about having the ability to sign both? If we cant...who do you go with?

For me it's not much of a question at this point...but I'm curious to read all of your opinions on this upcoming decision.

Both. Even if Allen balls out the next 5-6 games & Cam comes back healthy we don't have a good enough sample size and n Allen for a big contract, plus Cam is an injury risk. Best case scenario is Cam gets a few more years as Superman, helping to develop Lovey into a pocket guy that keeps the offense going at a winning level.

If either of them demands an insane contract, they leave.

After his 5th is picked up, thats the end of me wanting CMC. He is playing faaaaaar too many snaps to be given a new 5 year 70 million contract. Sorry dont want to pay an used up RB, its that simple.

Health Cam also has to prove he can play QB, until he does that, pass on him too. Keep him for the two years at 20 million, unless someone gives up a godfather-like trade.

Given his recent injury. I wonder what sort of contract Newton will ask for?

So...we should shed both Newton and CMC within two years?

I freely admit I'm looking at rational on Cam's part here & hoping he looks at endorsement $ for solidifying himself as one of the elite.

Nothing about the title of this this thread is disrespectful. It's about future cap.

Cam and CMC are valuable to this team and it will be hard to get another player of their caliber and ability skill set. Resign both unless a choice had to be made between the 2 contract wise. It will be a hard choice to make because neither of them will be easy to replace.

    • This whole thing is sooooooooo dumb, why any of this is an ongoing news story is ridiculous. There are only 2 people who should actually care about this, his wife and her husband. Affairs happen, not that I'm saying it's okay to cheat, but at worst, the only "bad thing" that could be coming around from this affair is that information was passed between them, the same type of info that any coach and journalist who are friends may share with each other to help the other out. The Patriots shouldn't care as long as it doesn't affect his focus on the team.  And those saying that he's lost the locker room and their respect over the "lying" have to be fooling themselves.  Half the players in that locker room are more than likely actively or previously have cheated on their significant other.  So it's not like they're looking at him saying, "what a liar and terrible person, I can't trust him as my coach anymore"
    • Seriously?!?! First SNF game of the year and it's two teams that didn't make the playoffs last year? I thought they always made that Week 1 SNF game a banger with two great teams from the previous season. EDIT:  Just looked, last year was Bills-Ravens, previous season was Lions-Rams, Giants-Cowboys ironically before that (but both coming off the playoffs).  From what I can tell, this will be the first time since 2020 that SNF's week 1 game isn't 2 teams from the playoffs the year before, and the Cowboys were in that one too, against the Rams who also didn't make it the year before.
