Schefter needs to cross that "source" off his list.

Riverboat's comments in presser today give zero indication of any internal movement towards Cam coming back to practice after the bye.   He makes it clear the Panthers doctors and trainers have given him no new news and no timetable.

Rodrigue asked question at 2:25 mark, Ron tap dances for close to 3 minutes in response.

The best thing about Cam coming back will be watching fake fans like you howl and moan in anguish.

Au contraire.

I fully support Cam's right to return and never want to see an athlete have their career diminished by injury.  I wish him well.

Did you actually expect Ron to give a definite timetable and make Kyle think he’s going to be pulled soon?

No, I didn't.  This because I had a strong suspicion that Schefter's information was faulty.

OP is the worst. It's like he doesn't even know the difference between a reporter trying to break news and a coach trying not to say anything valuable

Curious -- where do you think the reporter got his information?

The most interesting thing about this is that it begs the question of who the source of Shefter's report was. It must have come from Cam's camp. I think that would be a good sign unless it points to conflict between the two camps.

Billy Marshall?

There is a very real competitive advantage being ambiguous about our QB situation. Following a bye would be the perfect time to bring Cam back if he's ready giving him two weeks to prepare as the starter. But who knows if he's ready? Best to keep the Niners guessing and put it on them as to which QB they want to focus on preparing to defend.

Agreed on it coming from Cam's camp.

As for it being a good sign -- having hard time envisioning how it could be.

Interesting tweet from Joe Person here:

I have a feeling Cam thinks he is ready to go and now the team is telling him to slow down.

As such, and in order to push the issue, Cam & Co used Schefter to let the broader public know what Cam is thinking.

Will be interesting to see if any additional non-Panther approved information leaks on the topic....or, if Cam himself comments directly through another vlog or instagram, etc...

You seriously need to get some fresh air.

Here is how it can be positive:

Very early on in this process I had heard references in early articles that Cam's camp would be in favor of Cam shutting it down unless REALLY healthy given his contract status. If this is coming from his camp, it means that they believe he is healthy enough to have a season that will benefit him in a future contract negotiation; whereas, his play while injured was having the opposite effect.

    • While I really hope things pan out for the young man, sometimes you've got to make a calculated guess on your returns. I wanted so bad to see us use our first round pick on a LB, C or TE this season, but I think this one injury changes everything. I might suggest taking the best and the second best OTs available in the draft with our first and second round picks. The injury to Icky really makes the first one a good choice and an affordable one. And Moton, who is long in the tooth, needs someone in the wings behind him.  This also means that BC is going to need to get a contract for this upcoming season both as a starter at LT and to train the younger player behind him. Also it means that we need to extend a solid contract to Cade Mays and lock him down as our Center for the next four years. Maybe Icky can recover fully and be a starting LT again, but the odds aren't in his favor. Maybe he could be back in line to play as a guard right as our current starters' contracts wind down. It's not pretty having to spend all your picks and money on the line, but it seems to be the wise investment in light of everything.
    • Unfortunate situation.  if one of the top LTs fall in the draft I think it’s a no brainer draft pick. Then if icky returns he can move to guard and replace one of our highly paid guards that are here now.
    • I dont really expect anyone to have any character or values when the system doesn't. I would respect those who did though. College Football is losing what little interest I had in it. I wasn't against giving the athletes some control but whatever this system is will kill it over time.
