Well it went good and it converted.

Yes---and that is irrelevant.

Anyone who has ever played or coached--and most all knowledgeable fans--would tell you it was stupid.  Yes, it worked out this time--he got very lucky.  Any coach who would allow that is also stupid.

Play to win broseph

I'd rather lose a game that displayed ownership of testicles, than lose a game from a lack of having any.

That was playing to lose, broseph.  Stupid decisions do not help you win.  They tend to cause losing.  Your logic suggests that we should never punt.  Testicles do not win games, Broseph--brains do, however.

Well, when it comes to coaching, I'm as conservative as they come.

But even I think once in a while you've just gotta say "screw it" and do something crazy.

Uhhh and that was a thoughtful move...

We've only ever done it your way, and what's happened?

Def not saying do it everytime, but you have to assert yourself occasionally

Brosephine.... JK I just thought that would be a giggle-worthy addition.

You cool

Folks, those of you defending the decision (because it was successful) are showing just how much you do not get football.  It was an unnecessary risk.  The reward (4 yards) was not worth the risk (points fo the other team).  It would have thrown gas on their momentum fire and could have changed the outcome of the game for them--it did not help us win.

Yes--it worked this time.  If he had got stuffed (he nearly did) and they scored another TD and we lost by 3, you would be on the other side.  Under no circumstance was it smart, advisable, or recommended.  We got lucky.

Luck, it's all part of the game.

You have to make your own luck occasionally.

The saints inside kick that helped them win years ago was stupid, but it worked and they won.

You gotta throw it out there sometimes

I hear you.  You do something crazy when you need a boost or the game situation makes a risk more calculated.  None of the variables associated with that decision was smart.  I don;'t think the "screw it" mindset keeps coaches on the sideline very long.  If he had been stuffed and we lost, these same people would be wanting people fired by Monday.

Gambling is part of the game, man.

Sometimes it's successful, sometimes it's not. But truth be told, some of the best plays in football history happened because somebody took a chance.

He's a very good special teamer. He's just a disaster of a DB. Interesting his skills translate to one area and not the other. He's obviously a heady football player if they trust him to make those types of potentially game altering checks and we know he's fast. You'd think he'd be a good DB but he's definitely not.

Am I on a Madden discussion board?  You don't gamble to trigger luck ahead by 10 at home.  Strategy has a luck component, and the strategy here was stupid.  It was dumb.  It was ignorant.
