Let’s face it - no playoffs this year

Yep. With the way the tie breakers will be, we can only lose 1 more game to almost ensure making the playoffs.

Beating Seattle is paramount for tiebreakers if we finish 10-6 which is still going to be tough

20% is about right.  I haven't given up hope, but I'm also realistic.

Got to have the mindset to win every week.  Starting with the Falcons this weekend.

Other than the 49ers debacle, we have been in every game.  Got to find a way to win these close games b/c we are inevitably going to be in more down the stretch.

Watching Allen and the offense on the last drive was promising.  His ability to get past his earlier mistakes and almost lead us back reminded me of Delhomme, which I'm hoping will prove to be a good comparison.  Moore and Olsen both had really good games yesterday.  Moore is quietly becoming a WR1 caliber receiver.

And while Allen is never going to be peak Cam, I do think he can be a QB like Delhomme who is good enough to lead an overwise solid team.  Allen isn't outwardly fiery like Delhomme, but he has proven his ability to put mistakes behind him and not let them cascade.  Outside of the physical requirements, that is one of the most important qualities in a QB.

Younger fans might not remember, but Delhomme had plenty of games where he made head scratching mistakes (even in his best years from 2003- 2005) but you always felt like the team had a chance b/c of his ability to bounce back and be clutch in the 4th Quarter.

That game yesterday was the toughest environment (and not just b/c of the weather) this team is going to have to play in the rest of this year (outside of the Superdome).  It's a small consolation today, but long-term it does bode well that the team showed resilience when everything (including the refs) was against them early on.

Haven't that been the case for every year Ron has been here though. I'm tired of being so close but in the end still losing.

Probably true, and probably not a bad thing either.  This team is close to being a contender.  I think we all have to assume we will be moving forward with a new QB, and a higher draft pick to surround him with some talent may be a good thing.  I don't typically like the loser mentality, but I'd rather have a top 15 pick than to sneak into the playoffs and get pummeled first round, because I think a top 15 pick on this roster turns them into a true championship contender... especially with the potential of Brees and Brady both retiring this year.

The 49ers/Seahawks game recently should be about as good as an indicator as you'll need that defense isn't ultimately what will move the needle in this years NFL if you're looking to make the playoffs. You have to be able to put up at least 21-24 points if you want a shot at winning regardless of how your defense is playing. Unfortunately regardless of the state of our defense, our offensive line just isn't getting it done and that's only exacerbated by turnovers.

The defenses made all the plays last night.
