His history with this franchise is not done.  I think he'll end up in the ring of honor one day

Imo the only thing that would suggest he should is coaching the team to a Super Bowl. If that criteria gets Ron in, it should also get John Fox in as well, and not to insult either man, but I really don't want our team's Ring of Honor to include two coaches whose records were mediocre overall but managed to come up just short in the big game as their highest acheivement.

This maybe a dick thing to say but a lot of people in the media are acting like we just fired bill belicheck. I totally get Ron is a great dude and all that but he is literally the definition of mediocre. It’s very odd to me. Maybe a weird place to post this but I really figured Ron would just say a couple things to some reporters and be on his way. Presser is a little much tbh.

I'm not tracking media reaction, do you mean local media, national, or both? Just curious.

National media I just watched on NFL network. People are acting SHOCKED. Keep saying how highly respected this two time coach of the year is and how quickly he will get a job and why we couldn’t wait until the end of the season to fire such a decorated coach.

6-10

7-9

12-4

7-8-1

15-1 With one of the greatest single season qb performances in nfl history

6-10

11-5

7-9

5-7 with two of the worst losses in franchise history to seal his fate.

I just don’t get it.

Despite my issues with his on-field decisions, again, I appreciate and respect him as a man.  I'm pretty sure I might have some dust kicking up in the room watching it.  There was a few good times, but there were a whole lot more frustrating ones.  Regardless, classy gesture by Tepper and Ron.

I'm inclined to chalk it up to the way the national media tends to ignore us. They don't pay attention to what's going on here ESPECIALLY when Cam is not playing, so to them this is out of left field, wheras anyone actually following the team is somewhat less shocked.

I think a lot of people are conflating who he is with how he coached.  I don't.  I think he is an outstanding human being, a great example to others, a leader, etc.  But, he has not been a great coach.  I had several teachers and mentors in life that I looked up to and appreciated, but that doesn't mean they would make great strategists or coaches.

    • I’m old enough to remember when I wanted to draft Njoku We brought back Mitchell and officially kept Tremble. Mitchell Evans isn’t going anywhere. Sanders who knows, he was awful last year I fully agree we need a better TE. This room is awful Njoku would be a massive help in the red zone. However it really seems like Dan and the FO prefer to go young on offense
    • You’re underselling Loveland imo. He’s so damn good. You can line him out wide and count on him to win 1 v 1. I don’t see that from Sadiq. Loveland is going to go over 1000 yards next season I’m not overly asking for a WR3. It’s just one of the few directions Morgan could go in round 1.  Let’s say Thieneman, Fano and Cooper are all on the board it’s a tough decision. I just don’t see how this team would take Sadiq over some of those guys given the way they run their offense. Our tight end room is easily bottom of the league so I can definitely see why someone would want a tight end though. At one point during the season I was on the Sadiq train as well. I just don’t think value wise for us specifically it makes sense given our team as a whole As far as tight ends go in this draft I really like Max Klare. Very smooth mover
    • Some of you need some serious help with the way 9 lives rent free in your heads I know for a fact, Dan loves Bryce. Bryce is his guy. This offense is very young and they’re asking Bryce to do a lot. With Idzik taking over playcalling duties it’s a move that is another step in the process of Bryce taking control of the offense. 24 years old. This youth movement on offense and putting more on 9’s shoulders is going to pay off in the long run
