Kyle Allen is dead last in PFF's QB Rankings

Allen’s story is one of the biggest in the NFL this season as he took over for Cam Newton and injected some life into the Panthers' offense. Unfortunately, despite impressive velocity and the 17th-highest percentage of big-time throws, his No. 2 ranking in turnover-worthy play percentage (5.9%) is concerning. His volatility has shown up at the game level where he’s posted four game grades below 50.0 and two games above 76.0. That inconsistency leaves plenty of question marks about Allen’s future and he must cut down on the negatively-graded plays (eighth-highest in the NFL).

When will we see our 3rd round pick?

He hasn't looked good recently, but he is young and most young QBs go through slumps.  I was never sold on Allen being the future, but I don't think you can say this one way or another at this point and he needs more opportunities and I'd put Grier out there as well.  Things change once teams get film on you and start recognizing tendencies.

We saw our 3rd round pick in Preseason....

Cam Newton was awful in preseason, people were calling him Jamarcus Russell

Countless hall of fame quarterbacks looked dreadful in preseason

They did a study on preseason performance correlations and found none to how it reflected to your NFL career

We know nothing about how Grier can play from preseason

Yeah as much as Kyle's play has sucked, I damn sure ain't trying to watch Wills growing pains right now.

Why?  The worse Grier plays, the better our draft picks

And Hurney seems to pick a Hall of Famer anytime he gets a top 10 pick

It's WIN-WIN

I disagree because from what I saw,  he ain't ready. However, at this point, we've got nothing to lose.

Allen haters love to publicise only negative publicity.  Allen’s career rating is 85.9 and that is not bad at all.

He literally just posted the rankings it’s not his fault Allen is dead last. It’s Allen’s

    • Ravens mixing it up with a random Mark Andrew tush push last year isn't a similar situation.  Lamar has run QB sneaks his entire career.  And often instead of a traditional sneak will even employ a 4th and 1 direct snap to Lamar simply because of how athletic he is (which even Cam did a lot of) and let him pick his own holes.
    • height being an issue doesn't just mean batted balls.  You could argue Bryce minimizes batted balls by adopting other poor habits such as his jump passing and leaving the pocket.   As I said, there are plays you can point to where he clearly was blind to parts of the field/players....which kills plays and opportunity. Which actually means some of the shorter/hot throws when things break down are where his vision gets blocked (and he had below average production all around the line of scrimmage).   has he figured it out? I mean, he improved off a trainwreck start.  But Bryce Young since arriving in the league (even while figuring it out)......doesn't generate much offensive production vs his peers.  I just think his ceiling is low.   And that's not in the grand scheme what you want in the NFL.  I think he can develop into a serviceable QB, that will largely always been a middle of the pack or low end starter.
    • People make a lot of noise about his footwork and I think it is overblown. Whether he takes 3 steps backwards or 5 small steps doesn't matter as long as he ends up at the right depth and is in sync with  the receiver regarding timing. If he does that consistently who cares as long as he has a firm stable base as he delivers the ball. Which he does need to work on. However even that is somewhat overblown given that often QBs have to throw off balance or from different arm angles to fit the ball around defenders. He is considered very accurate so apparently it isn't hurting him that much.
