Good grief you shat this thread to hell. You take the internet WAY too seriously.

Take a break.

It makes sense for Cam and his camp to bet on Cam having an outstanding 2020 - an MVP type season - and then getting the contract he really wants.

Exactly.

Cam's people want him to maximize his earnings over the next 6 seasons.

The singular path to doing so is ball out on his current deal and then sign a new 5-year deal which will be the largest in NFL history.

That's what Cam's people want.

@Mr. Scots purported "insiders" do not know what Cam's people want nor are they able to think logically about what Cam's people want and how to accomplish it.

Point being that those statements don't ultimately matter either way.

You want to say that a statement like this means the whole matter is closed. History and practice don't bear that out.

I think it's closed until further noticed, in my eyes. He publicly stated that he wants to be here and I think he feels that way. In the next few weeks, could that change? Absolutely. But I would trust what he says currently over your insider sources from some time ago. As I said, my OPINION, is that both are the "temperature of the moment" events. We all know that the temperature changes all the time.

So, the MOST CURRENT INFO(Cam's public statements) leads me to believe he wants to return to Carolina.

Now we get to see if that stays that way or even matters at all, as the team can obviously still decide to move on.

I had one of those days yesterday.  Listening to people get nowhere and make fools of themselves on a web conference, or debating some random point with somebody here.  One of those was a lesser form of hell than the other.

Hate web conferences or webinars. Every person is more monotone than the last one

Yeah and I am not trying to tell you to NOT debate Scott but let's not troll and get personal about it. You are capable of making solid arguments without doing all that.

And, yes, I realize that trolling is entertaining but it does get tiresome, all the same.

Yet you have no problem suggesting things about my character with no basis other than what I believe is going to happen to a football player. When  in reality you don't know a thing about my background or my beliefs.

Something to think about...

This thread is out of control.........

Here's the deal.

1) Cam has publically stated his position on how he feels on his future playing for the Panthers

2) Now it will be up to the Panthers organization and Cam's agent to determine if Cam's statement becomes a reality in 2020 or not.

At this point nobody knows what the Panthers or Cam's agent are going to do..............so you wait and see what happens.

There is nothing more to add to this subject.

You did the same when you were starting threads left and right about Cam leading up to the draft in 2011.

Public statements don't mean much in cases like this.

And if I've learned one thing, it's that what a team or a player would like to happen often doesn't.

    • In your opinion. What do you think Moton's true value in contract, dollars and guarantees? If we had not extended him, what is your plan for RT in 27 and 28? How important are good offensive linemen for our current offense? How much value do you put on protecting Bryce at this stage of his career? How difficult in general do you think finding above average tackles in the NFL is?
    • The Falcons have 2 significant offensive line injuries to start the 2025 season. Right tackle Kaleb Mcgary (who is the blindside protector for Penix since he is left-handed) is going to miss significant time, and it's looking more like it may be all season. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/falcons-expect-kaleb-mcgary-to-miss-significant-time https://x.com/BKsquared7/status/1959285822236107013. Also, the top backup and swing tackle, Storm Norton (cool name BTW) is having ankle surgery and may miss half the season. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/falcons-ot-storm-norton-out-6-8-weeks-after-ankle-surgery I don't root for injuries, but its also hard to be too sympathetic given how badly injuries have hit us in recent years. We definitely need to get that W in week 3 for our home opener at BOA. Despite our collective frustration at not being able to attend TC and then having boring preseason games, ultimately the most important objective of the preseason is to enter Week1 healthy, and we have at least done that. Hopefully the depth we think we have at Oline either shines through or isn't needed. Many other teams are in a bad spot with their offensive lines before the season even starts. For once, we aren't in that situation.
    • That roster was billed as a super smart and strong unit for a young QB….until he sucked though.   it didn’t have superstars but it had proven vets that checked well all the safe boxes and it was universally agreed the Panthers were putting him into position to succeed. BY just doesn’t fit a traditional O because he isn’t built like a traditional QB.  And he still doesn’t.   CJ Stroud would have had more success here than Bryce with that cast.   CJ just has the tools that fit the NFL more easily.  Young can find success but I have always argued it would take a Bryce centric plan (which we have never attempted IMO)
