Heard this argument the other day on the radio?

QB situation is one thing that a coaching candidate will look for when trying to gey a job with a team.  The most important position on a team, unless there is a plan at that position.  That HC job will not be attractive.

Our Current situation looks like 2 things, keep Cam or build around one of the other 2 QBs.  So right now, your a highly sout after coaching candidate.  Whichnis more appealing to you going forward and going to convince you This is the job you want over another one where they have something at QB.

Or option 3. The coach coming in makes a splash moves up to top spot to take qb they want?

Honestly, this is probably one of the first things I'm asking any prospective HC or GM candidate I'm seriously considering if I'm Tepper. How are you gonna handle this QB situation?

I'd lay all my cards on the table in terms of everything I knew about the situation in terms of Cam's current health, the opinion on future prognosis from the medical team, what Cam is wanting in terms of potential contract extension, etc. and simply ask them, "Well, what are you gonna do?"

Here's the thing

All of that falls on the GM

Thats why this argument came up.  Coaching Candidates will be the ones asking Tepper and Hurney this.  I get it, its a "Head Coaching" job and the money.  But guys arent going to step into something they think could set them up to fail.  They want to know what they will be dealing with and have to work with were they to take this job.

But I think I want my HC and GM to be 100% on the same page on this one. You're off to a really bad professional relationship if they aren't.

Suprisingly no.

Some still argue just the question marks surrounding Cam's health

I just don't view the Allen/Grier situation as much of a pitch from a "future of the position" perspective, I suppose. With Cam you have a valid pitch, although you are going to have to temper their doubts on the injury(assuming the team doesn't have the same doubts).

I would think a chance to draft a QB would be more attractive than the Allen/Grier pitch, TBH.

Dumb poll. I like Allen and Grier might be good but Cam is still the most proven.

You and Ron Rivera might be the only two people left on the face of this Earth who think the stars could align in such a fashion that Kyle Allen becomes a legitimate long-term starting NFL QB.

    • Another layer to that is Ive seen Seattle has been in the market for CB help this off-season.   Michael had a higher PFF grade than Horn who got 15 games this season. He wants to be here too, that's a huge bonus for any 5 win team that had awful pass rush.  The 7th rounder Michael Barrett didn't last long on Seattle, he was cut before the season I think and ended up on browns PS. He's already been on 5.......5 teams within one year.......
    • You have gave the board some recent gold via posting. Heres my poor attempt at the truthful play-by-play of the time during post- I pulled out the old laptop to do my shitposting and check on websites. Open the huddle and see this new thread. Open thread and read CRAs post, {inner thinking, oooOOooo this is my lane and I got this}. Make sure not to scroll even to the 2nd post. 23% of current neurons still firing start up and two names appear- Captain and Josh....... about another 43 seconds past "O GOD" it's July 4th weekend and I got medicine to pick up. (If the laptop didn't give away my aging, the meds should...) I need to split, think long panther careers and the hint-  Ryan Kalil was a late 2nd and Pro bowls(even all-pros too) he's got to be OLman and Mikie Minter is among the all-time Panthers career leaders. Drop my post. Scramble to get keys, wallet, and phone. Check my phone- its 17% battery.....fug I now have to raw dog the pickup line and put the phone on charge.... Flip flops, sweat ringed filled hat, and shades acquired. Get in my pos rav4 and think about not running the A/C. Pull out the drive way and reach the 1st stop light, A/C is wide open. I check my shirt to see if there's any new stains on my house shirt, bush off the Bojangles salt that I see.... Neurons re-fire and focus on the comments CRA made that no one would get this....... Dang IT, that means it isn't Ryan Kalil or Mike Minter! CVS is close, but I know its impossible I get back withing 10 minutes to change my post and my phone is on the charger. {Think you monkey, at one point you were a draft nerd}. Reach the CVS line, by some grace its not 5 cars deep during 5 o'clock traffic hell. Im second in line after the car in front of me both turn in, they have to go back and forth to line up while Im a pro for that geometry. Neurons finally reach peak performance as Ive re-thought draft classes. Think obscure and unknown 7th rounders with long careers. Some Sunday/Monday night member berry fell out of my Melon, Will montgomery during the players intros for washington. I thought he out of the league and was shocked to see him still playing around the 2015 years. I do a goggle background check and that refreshed memory. Pick up the meds and enjoy the sweet smelling cool CVS air. Driving back and check in on one of the local bums at the big stop light, wow he's got a new fancy rug. Think about all the old food I got and need to start giving it away and rethink it. Reach home and post a follow up and I know Minter is wrong too, I check the draft history and see Robert Mcclain. Too late, but that would have been my guess....open CRAs link and get "upset" at the DBs name.
