Grier's performance

Yeah, I thought he handled pressure from the rush a lot better than Allen. He had good touch on his short passes, but his mid-range passes (where Allen shines) were pretty much straight trash and the more open the receiver was the worse his delivery was. His deep looked about like Allen's - consistently underthrown.

He wasn't historically bad but his play didn't inspire a lot of confidence. Granted, two of his interceptions could have been deep completions if our receivers had more muscle and he wisely chose to feed McCaffrey on half his throws. You could say he has the potential to become a serviceable backup which is what you might expect from a comp 3rd round pick while hoping for more. Can't draw a ton of conclusions from a single game but you could probably still say we saw enough to say that he's not the answer for the 2020 starting qb position (not that we expected him to be).

At least one of those throws was underthrown, giving the db a chance to make the play on the ball.

But, I was impressed with his pocket awareness and mobility for sure.

The one area where he excelled, better than Allen or even Cam, was pocket presence and movement.  He moved very well up and out of the pocket as the situation dictated.  That is pretty good when you realize just how bad our Oline plays.

Now, after the great movement, his passing is another thing altogether

    • Oh I was.  But we still had great players.
    • You keep AT unless he WANTS to get traded to a contender during the season.  He's valuable, TET, XL, and Coker need to learn how to be PROFESSIONALS on game day, practice, and the off-season.  That's what you get from AT.  ADDITIONALLY, he is clutch.  He is steady.  At is that savvy vet who will always flash. I really think they keep 7 WR's if Brycen can operate on special teams.  Week 1 you may see us heavy on WR and OL because of the massive amount of injuries across the league.  Renfrow may even be cool starting on the PS since he lives close and wouldn't need to uproot his family.  You can still make nearly 400K as a vested veteran on an NFL practice squad.  You see more veterans hanging around since the age limit was lifted. I think the 1st 53 and PS looks like so...... Offense: (25) QB (2) Young / Dalton RB (3) Chuba/Rico/Etienee WR (7) T-Mac/XL/AT/Coaker/Renfrow/JHjr/Brycen TE (3) Tremble/Sanders/Evans OL (10) Icky/Lewis/Corbett/Hunt/Moten/Brady/Mayes/Yosh/Zavala/Kingston Defense: (25) DL: (6) Brown/Robinson/Turk/Bobby B/Cam Jackson/Sam Roberts OLB: (5) Wonnom/PJ2/NicSic/Princely/Incoon ILB: (5) Rozeboom/TW/Windmon/Cherelus/Bam CB: (5) Horn/MJ/CSW/Thorton/Evans S: (4) Tre'Mo/Ransom/Demani/Scott Specialists: (3) JJ/Fitz/Martin Last spot: Right now I have it as a toss up between DJ Johnson and Bam.  Until NicSic can come back we need an extra edge.  Do we utilize TW more as a blitzer from the middle to keep Bam safe?  I'm not worried about DJJ getting picked up from another team, a little more concerned with Bam. Practice Squad: DavidMoore/JamesMitchell/JacolbyGeorge/Tuttle/Crumdley/Ray/DJJohnson/Kantra/Carter/Blacksheer/ Wright/KrysBarnes/MichaelReid/Safety pick up/RB pick up/QB pick up
