Yeah but they weren't deliberately tanking. It is legitimately difficult to convince 53 players and an entire coaching staff of ultra competitive people to lay down and die for 16 games. Tanking is a front office thing in the NFL, not an on the field thing.

They also looked like poo because Rosen was starting.

I don't believe tanking happens.

It just sucks that a team that looked so bad we were talking about it is pretty close to us in record..

Your opinion does not matter when you are looking at mathematical possibilities.  If I knew losing impacted the Panthers in no way but I could drop a division rival by resting starters and faking injuries (like they did last year) I would do it.  So what you think---OK, I will consider your opinion as well as other possibilities.  How can you say others are wrong?  You can't.

I was told there would be no math :Eyes_Emoji_42x42:

Yeah but you aren't an NFL head coach. They didn't throw that game to fug us. They just didn't care enough about it because they had bigger fish to fry. It happens all the time when you catch those Week 17 games where you are playing backups.

It's not a scenario that will happen this year because win or lose the Saints will still be jockeying for position. I will even go one step further, they aren't going to be able to know if they need the win or not because our game is at 1 PM and the Seahawks vs. 49ers is an 8:20 game. They aren't going to be attempting to lose.

Do you really want the Panthers to win that last game?  Seriously?

He isn't saying that at all. He is saying that it is pretty pathetic to be in the same sentence as the Dolphins when you look at the storylines from the first few of weeks of the season. "Worst team in NFL history!" and all that poo.

Nor are you coaching an NFL team-rest your starters, hurt your opponents next year- you are talking about the bounty gate coach.  You may be right, but I live in a world where people look for any edge they can get--opportunists who know the margin between losing a winning is whisker thin.  Just a theory.
