Yeah, whatever will we do if we lose JAGs off of one of the worst defenses in the league?

I mean, we do have to replace them. Keep in mind that we don't have that much cap left and only have 7 draft picks. We can't magically lose everyone and get better in one offseason is my point. If we are in "get rid of 'em all" mode then really the next season is basically a tank anyway.

2020 Free agents from the team site (link)

EDGE Mario Addison
S Tre Boston
CB James Bradberry
DT Vernon Butler
CB Ross Cockrell
CB Javien Elliott

WR Chris Hogan
DE Wes Horton
EDGE Bruce Irvin
DT Kyle Love
DT Gerald McCoy
NT Stacy McGee

G Greg Van Roten
G Daryl Williams

*DT Dontari Poe and WR Jarius Wright have team options that can be picked up before the 2020 league year begins. If the options are not picked up, they become unrestricted free agents.

With exception to 3-4 guys, that roster reads like it should be attributed to the XFL.

Every team routinely churns the bottom half of it's roster. Unfortunately, we were starting guys who should've been on the bottom half of the roster.

So you think that Addison, Boston, Bradberry, Cockrell, McCoy, and Irvin are going to be on the bottom half of every/most NFL rosters? I am going to just disagree on that.

Boston, Cockrell, and Irvin? Yes.

There's a reason why those guys were available on short term relatively small money deals. Even McCoy is on a one year deal that wasn't exactly bank breaking. He's was the 20th highest paid DT in the NFL this year. Addison is still a damn good edge rusher and I hope we can keep him, but his age is a concern.

I'm not saying to definitely throw all those guys out, but the $$$ has to make sense. There aren't any "must keep" guys on that list. I really wanted to keep Bradberry but if his market demands a too 5 CB contract I'm not so sure about that.

I don't think you really think that Boston, Cockrell and Irvin are bottom half roster guys in the NFL. The money stance I can understand but they have produced well above "bottom half roster" guys. They largely signed those shorter term deals because most of them are older(McCoy and Irvin especially) and it isn't wise for a team to commit large sums of money on a long term contract to players that are entering an age where players traditionally decline in production.

But to say they are bottom half of the NFL players? That's just hyperbole.

I think they're backup/rotational caliber players. On a 46 man game day roster, that pretty much means bottom half of the roster.

Keep Boston, Bradberry, Cockrell, McCoy, & maybe Wright and tell everyone else to screw off

You think that they wouldn't be able to start on 32 teams, regardless of financial impacts?

"Starting" in the NFL doesn't always mean much. God knows we've started plenty of guys through the years who honestly weren't even NFL roster caliber... and proved such as they never played for another NFL team. Amini comes to mind. The guy started 31 games for us. Never played a snap for another team despite sitting a year of his "prime" on the couch until we called him back.

I wouldn't dispute that but I am talking about you saying they wouldn't be starters on another team in the NFL. I have to disagree with that completely.

Anyway, this semantics argument is just a tangent that came from the greater point, which is we can't very well nuke the entire roster and expect much. That is a 4+ year rebuild kind of move.
