Bummer, I was really hoping to see Marty get PWNT outta the building.

You might.

Breer believes McDaniels will choose between Carolina and Cleveland (assuming both make offers) based on who has "the right structure".

Cleveland just had an internal power struggle that got a GM fired. The guy who won that struggle is likely entrenched, is running the head coach search and is a fan of Kevin Stefanski.

In Charlotte, everybody who's currently employed is updating their resume' except Marty, who's set to watch most or all of the people he put in place be shown the door. Meanwhile, the owner has already said the head coach gets a say in the new VP hire, a guy widely speculated to be Marty's replacement.

Sounds like the Panthers front office situation would offer him a lot more flexability, power, and most of all stability than the Browns would.

I can see the obvious sentimental  appeal of going home with a chance to be a savior. The Browns organization has redefined NFL incompetence since the new franchise arrived in town. However, I suspect that McDaniel is not likely to be that swayed by sentiment. Personally, I hope McDaniel is the next Panthers' head coach.

I want an offensive-minded head coach who has head coaching experience and is relatively young, has plenty of NFL experience, proven flexibility, and a willingness to change. McDaniel seem seems to fit the bill.

You're unusual. I've seen more people that hate the idea than love it.

I don't have a favorite at the moment. The guy I hoped we'd go after isn't in the running. As to the ones who are, I can see the pros and cons of each choice, but no one's really standing head and shoulders above the others for me right now.

former MLB executive Paul DePodesta, the team's chief strategy officer, is in charge of the Browns' latest hiring process. DePodesta wasn't installed as the lead voice on the search until after "a few days of mixed messages to candidates (within) the organization," per Rapoport, but he's since been tasked as the top adviser to Browns owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam.

Browns’ chief strategy officer Paul DePodesta is expected to take on a much larger role moving forward ,,This past offseason          ,   DePodesta favored Kevin Stefanski, but ownership sided with Dorsey and his choice of Freddie Kitchens.

***Dee Haslam has thrown herself into the mix, and is advocating for Patriots’ offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels to get the gig.

    • Exactly He's played two seasons and started 28 games. He's well beyond the point of being able to point to 2 or 3 games and being able to say, "THAT is the QB he is and will be in the future" Of course he can get there, but anyone trying to use just those couple of games to rank his place amongst the games QB's today and their full career's worth of playing at that level, is just asinine. Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Burrow, Hurts, Herbert, Daniels, Stafford, Goff, Geno, Purdy, Baker, Love, Dak, Tua, Kyler, Lawrence That's 17 QB's right there that have played better over their careers than Bryce has played at his best.  And I'm not saying they're all studs or guys I'd want to be our QB moving forward, Tua for example I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole, but his body of work is a million times better than Bryce's has been. It's also not including any of the other QB's drafted in 2023/2024 other than Daniels. So again, say you believe in Bryce, say you think he's going to prove he can and should be our QB of the future, that's all fair and totally fine. But nobody can say he's been an above average QB in his career thus far, it's just an asinine notion.
    • I'd think we could get one of those from Dallas for... whatever.
