RIP Sam Wyche

Sad news...

Wyche was an offensive genius, served as the opposing coach in a couple of the best Super Bowls in history and was the last guy to make the Bengals truly relevant.

He was also famous for calling out a rowdy Bengals crowd with the words "You don't live in Cleveland!" :)

I'm dating myself here but I remember when Sam was a backup to both Sonny Jurgenson and Billy Kilmer.  He was officially third string quarterback but really more of an unofficial OC on the sidelines.  Sam would make observations, suggest plays and adjustments to whichever was the starter.  You could tell that he would be a HC somewhere eventually.

Well done, Sam.  Well done.

He lived in a county adjacent to me.  I guess in retirement he wanted a lot of land and not a lot of neighbors.  Pickens is a small, peaceful, quiet town out in the boondocks.  He nearly put a blemish on the 49ers 1980's dynasty and that would have been a huge accomplishment.

R.I.P. Sam.

    • Biscuit in the Basket- when Carolina scores on a power play, you get a free Bo Berry biscuit.  Donuts at Home- when the NY Rangers get shut out at home, you get a free Krispy Kreme donut.
    • Evans really needs to be getting more PT. Especially over Sanders     Don't forget who our head coach is.
    • One of the only moments in his entire career where he actually impressed me was when he had the shimmer in his eye and grin on his face before that final drive on Sunday.  When I saw the look on his face I knew we were going to go right down the field and win.  You could see in his eyes he knew he had the game won.    I think a lot of that had to do with him knowing Rico was feeling good and the Packers defense was gassed, and not necessarily confidence in his own abilities, but I digress...
